Labuan Shipyard & Engineering Sdn. Bhd. in Labuan, Malaysia, invites a Planning Engineer to join our project team and contribute to planning, scheduling and monitoring of shipbuilding, ship repair and engineering projects.
The role focuses on developing schedules, tracking progress, and coordinating resources on-site. You will work closely with engineering, procurement and construction teams to ensure timely delivery, manage critical paths, and provide regular progress reports.
Seeking for a Planning Engineer to join our project team and support the planning, scheduling and monitoring of shipbuilding, ship repair and engineering projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules, monitoring project progress, coordinating manpower and resources, identifying potential delays, and providing timely progress reports to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and within the planned schedule.
Develop, maintain and monitor project schedules for shipbuilding, ship repair and engineering projects.
Prepare project baseline schedules, milestones, work breakdown structures (WBS) and look-ahead schedules.
Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify delays, constraints and potential schedule risks.
Prepare weekly/monthly progress reports, schedule updates and progress measurement reports.
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Production/Construction, QA/QC and other project teams to ensure activities are aligned with project schedules.
Monitor manpower, materials, equipment and other resources required to achieve project targets.
Prepare recovery schedules and recommend appropriate mitigation actions for activities that are behind schedule.
Participate in project meetings and provide schedule analysis, progress updates and recommendations to the Project Manager and Management.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in project planning, scheduling or project controls.
Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, offshore, oil & gas or heavy engineering industries will be an added advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Project for project scheduling and monitoring.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and preparation of project progress reports and planning documentation.
Good understanding of project scheduling, progress monitoring, critical path and resource planning.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination and communication skills.
Willing to work in a shipyard/site environment and based in Labuan.
