Job summary

Balluff Automation Malaysia Sdn, Bhd. is seeking a Vision Application & Sales Engineer to grow the machine vision business across Southeast Asia and Taiwan, focusing on SEM, CCC, Automotive and Packaging.

You will combine vision application engineering with active field sales, developing and closing opportunities from customer requirements to validated concepts. The role requires 3–7 years in machine vision or related fields, solid technical depth in camera/lighting and SWIR capabilities, and

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, physics, mechatronics, or equivalent.
• 3–7 years in machine vision, industrial automation or optical inspection.
• Solid machine vision background: camera, optics, lighting, image acquisition; EMVA1288 advised.
• Fluent English; Mandarin and Malay beneficial for regional work.

Responsibilities

• Independently identify, develop and win machine vision opportunities in SEA and Taiwan, focusing on SEM, CCC, Automotive and Packaging accounts.
• Own and grow an opportunity pipeline in CRM: prospecting, qualification, concept, quotation input, negotiation support and closing with country teams.
• Provide product and application consultation for Balluff Vision products, with depth in SWIR camera applications and standard vision.
• Design and execute application tests, feasibility studies and proof-of-concept activities at customer sites and labs.
• Conduct demos, evaluations and on-site trials across the region.
• Serve as regional technical interface for machine vision to country sales teams and global AE org.
• Deliver internal/external trainings; build reusable regional knowledge.
• Support After-Sales in complaint processing through technical pre-assessment and evaluation.
• Provide feedback to Product Management and R&D; assist product introductions and pilots.
• Monitor competitor activity in SEA/Taiwan and feed findings to GTM planning.

Job description

Vision Application & Sales Engineer (SEA & Taiwan)

Grow Balluff's machine vision business across Southeast Asia and Taiwan, with focus on the Semiconductor (SEM), Consumer Electronics / 3C (CCC), Automotive and Packaging verticals. The role combines vision application engineering with active field sales: the holder independently identifies, develops and closes vision opportunities - in particular SWIR camera applications and standard vision applications within the Balluff portfolio - and owns the technical solution from customer requirement to validated application concept.

Key responsibilities

• Independently identify, develop and win machine vision opportunities in SEA and Taiwan, with focus on SEM, CCC, Automotive and Packaging accounts (fabs, OSATs, equipment builders, EMS, automotive OEMs/tier suppliers, packaging machine builders and system integrators)
• Own and grow a defined opportunity pipeline in CRM: prospecting, qualification, technical concept, quotation input, negotiation support and closing together with country sales teams
• Perform product and application consultation for Balluff Vision products, with particular depth in SWIR camera applications (e.g. wafer/semiconductor inspection, silicon transmission, moisture/material detection) and standard vision applications
• Design and execute application tests, feasibility studies and proof-of-concept activities at customer sites and in the lab
• Conduct demos, evaluations and on-site trials at customers, trade shows and seminars across the region
• Act as regional technical interface for machine vision toward country sales teams and the global AE organization
• Provide internal and external trainings; build reusable application knowledge for the region
• Support After-Sales in complaint processing through technical pre-assessment, failure reproduction and evaluation of application conditions
• Provide structured, reproducible field feedback to Product Management and R&D; support product introductions and pilot phases
• Monitor competitor vision activity (e.g. Keyence, Cognex, Basler, regional integrators) in SEA/Taiwan and feed findings into regional GTM planning

About you

• Degree in engineering, physics, mechatronics or comparable
• 3-7 years in machine vision, industrial automation or optical inspection - application engineering, FAE or technical sales
• Solid machine vision background: camera, optics, lighting, image acquisition; EMVA1288 principles an asset
• Knowledge of GigE Vision, USB3 Vision and GenICam; integration with PLCs/controllers and industrial networks
• SWIR imaging experience or demonstrable ability to build it quickly (InGaAs sensors, semiconductor inspection use cases) is a strong plus
• Exposure to semiconductor/electronics, automotive or packaging manufacturing environments (front-end, OSAT, SMT/EMS, automotive production, packaging lines) preferred
• Proven sales affinity: opportunity qualification, funnel management, account development and closing orientation
• Business-fluent English, Chinese (Mandarin) and Malay required; Hokkien/Taiwanese or Bahasa Indonesia an asset
• Very strong customer-facing communication; able to explain complex technical topics to engineers and to purchasing/management
• High ownership, initiative and ability to work independently in a remote regional setup
• Willingness to travel extensively across Southeast Asia and Taiwan (approximately 50%)
