Job summary

YMHS Enterprise Consulting is looking for a Field Application Engineer to perform on-site installation, commissioning, and optimization of automation machines and AOI vision systems. The role requires hands-on problem-solving, fault diagnosis, and customer training across Malaysia, Vietnam, and Japan.

You will communicate with customers in English, read mechanical/electrical drawings, and collaborate with China-based teams to implement design improvements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, Electronic, Automation or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years hands-on experience as FAE/commissioning/after-sales for automation or AOI equipment.
• Willing to travel 50%+ to Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan for on-site deployment.
• Proficient reading of mechanical/electrical drawings; basic PLC/motion control knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Install on-site, tune, and optimize automation machines and AOI systems to meet specs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical assemblies and PLC/drive faults; identify root causes.
• Coordinate with customers and R&D to drive improvements and service standardization.
• Prepare field service reports, log data, and close customer issues; travel as required.

Job description

Conduct on-site installation, precision tuning, program optimization, function validation and customer FAT/SAT acceptance for custom-built automation machines and AOI vision inspection systems, to ensure equipment meets design specifications.

Key responsibilities

Conduct on-site installation, precision tuning, program optimization, function validation and customer FAT/SAT acceptance for custom-built automation machines and AOI vision inspection systems, to ensure equipment meets design specifications.

Perform in-depth troubleshooting on mechanical assembly, pneumatic circuits, electrical control, servo & stepper drives, inverters, sensor signals and PLC logic; identify root causes and deliver permanent closure for complex breakdowns.

Discuss process requirements with customers, carry out process-oriented parameter tuning, deliver technical solution briefing, after-sales guidance and hands-on operation training.

Feed-back on-site technical issues to China-based R&D, mechanical, electrical and project teams; drive design improvement, reliability enhancement and service standardization.

Complete field-service reports, fault case documentation, data logging and customer complaint closure as required.

Arrange business trips, submit travel expense claims and provide regular progress updates to China headquarters.

Perform other ad-hoc regional technical support tasks assigned by management.

About you

Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, Electronic, Automation or Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 2 years of hands-on working experience as FAE, commissioning engineer or after-sales support engineer for custom-built automation or AOI vision equipment.

Strong understanding of non-standard automation machine structure, electrical-pneumatic system, transmission mechanism and fixture principle; practical skills for mechanical assembly and precision adjustment.

Basic knowledge on PLC programming & motion control (Mitsubishi / Siemens / Keyence / Omron); capable to read mechanical & electrical drawings, independently troubleshoot I/O signals, servo, stepper motor and VFD faults.

Willing to travel 50% and above to Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan for short-term on-site deployment.

Business-level English communication for overseas clients.

Practical commissioning experience on machine-vision hardware (camera, lens, lighting), multi-station linkage and sensor systems.

Previous AOI equipment service experience within SMT or semiconductor industry.

Past working-travel experience in Vietnam or Japan.

Familiar with Cognex, Basler or Keyence vision systems.

Gross salary up to RM10,000; 70% base pay + 30% performance allowance
