NSW Automation Sdn Bhd, based in Penang, Malaysia, seeks a machine vision engineer to join a team focused on integrating cameras, optics, lighting, and image-processing algorithms into production machines.
You will develop reliable vision software for inspection, alignment, and calibration, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to ensure seamless system integration and field troubleshooting. Chinese language ability is a plus.
Responsible for integrating cameras, lenses, lighting, and image-processing algorithms into production machines. The role involves developing reliable vision software for applications such as component/pad inspection, position detection, measurement, alignment, defect detection, and machine calibration.
Develop machine vision applications using C# / .NET and relevant vision libraries.
Develop image-processing algorithms for inspection, measurement, detection, alignment, and positioning.
Implement image-processing techniques such as thresholding and segmentation, blob analysis, edge and contour detection, pattern matching, morphological processing, geometric measurement, filtering, and noise reduction
Perform camera calibration and coordinate transformation
Develop algorithms for detecting and extracting geometric features such as points, lines, circles, rectangles, and contours.
Optimize vision algorithms for accuracy, stability, processing speed, and production reliability.
Select and integrate appropriate industrial cameras, lenses/optics, lighting systems, light controllers, and calibration equipment.
Configure camera parameters such as exposure, gain, resolution, and triggering
Integrate vision systems with machine motion, I/O, PLC, and other equipment
Develop communication interfaces between the vision system and machine-control software
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and process engineers to ensure seamless integration of machine vision systems with overall machine functionality.
Support customer evaluations, on-site testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting, while contributing to code reviews, technical discussions, and relevant technical documentation.
Participate in R&D activities related to machine vision, image processing, process applications, and emerging technologies such as AI.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in machine vision, image processing, or software development within the industrial automation or machinery industry.
Fresh graduates with a CGPA of 3.2 and above who possess strong programming and engineering fundamentals are encouraged to apply.
Possess good programming skills in C# / .NET and understanding of object-oriented programming.
Basic to good knowledge of image processing and computer vision.
Experience with OpenCV, Emgu CV, OpenCvSharp, Halcon, eurasys or equivalent vision libraries.
Understanding of industrial cameras and camera interfaces, lighting and optics for machine vision.
Basic understanding of coordinate systems and geometric transformations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
Capable of speaking Chinese is highly preferred as this role requires to deal with clients from China, Taiwan
