Job summary

Liberty Specialty Markets Malaysia is seeking a senior manager to lead General Insurance product lines and drive strategic growth.

You will steward relationships with the Distribution Team and intermediaries, train networks on Liberty products, and shape market branding and training initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, or related discipline would be desirable.
• MBA or professional insurance qualifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and underwriting guidelines for target new and renewal business to ensure quality and adequate pricing.
• Acting as a referral point to Distribution Team for assigned specialty products.
• Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with Distribution Team and Intermediaries (including Brokers).
• Building the Liberty Brand and own profile within the market.
• Reviewing and negotiating policy terms and endorsements as required.
• Executing selling and negotiation strategies to drive profitability and growth of the product lines.
• Lead training and development for Distribution Team and Intermediaries on relevant topics.

Job description

• Reviewing, rating and underwriting target new business and renewal business in line with Liberty’s quality selection and adequate pricing guidelines.
• Acting as a referral point to Distribution Team for the assigned specialty products.
• Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with Distribution Team and Intermediaries (including Brokers) to facilitate the marketing and sale and training of the Liberty brand and products.
• Building the Liberty Brand and own profile within the market.
• Reviewing and negotiating policy terms and conditions, assisting with policy wordings and endorsements.
• Executing selling & negotiation strategies to ensure profitability & growth of assigned specialty product line(s).
• Contributing to an effective team environment by interacting professionally with all team members and providing development, support and assistance as required.
• Providing strategic input into product development and marketing plans as required.
• Preparing portfolio reports, as required, for dissemination to senior management.
• Representing Liberty at industry social events, conferences and other relevant market related presentations.
• Compile and present training to Distribution Team and Intermediaries on relevant topics as required.
• Working closely with claims department, risk management and all other key internal stakeholders.
• Providing input into the financial and strategic planning process relative to the assigned product line.
• Taking responsibility for mentoring, training and development of other less experienced employees in relevant product line(s).
• Lead and deliver on special projects connected to the business.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, or Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline would be desirable; MBA or professional insurance qualifications.
• AMII, FMII, ACII, FCII or other professional insurance designations is preferred.
• Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in General Insurance and holding a managerial role.
• Significant previous relevant experience in the General (non-Life) Insurance industry.
• Significant previous relevant experience in an aligned role with a broker or insurance company.
• Familiar with industry regulations and compliance standards including market trends
• Highly proficient relationship building and influencing skills
• Extensive negotiation skills and selling skills
