Job summary

Liberty General Insurance Berhad in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Senior General Insurance Manager to lead underwriting and portfolio management, overseeing rating, pricing guidelines, and collaboration with Distribution Team and Intermediaries.

You will mentor staff, contribute to product development and marketing plans, represent Liberty at industry events, and drive profitability and growth of assigned product lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, or engineering; MBA or professional insurance qualifications preferred.
• AMII, FMII, ACII, FCII or other professional insurance designations preferred.
• 7–8 years of experience in General Insurance with a managerial role.
• Extensive experience in General (non-Life) Insurance.
• Experience with brokers or insurance companies.
• Familiar with industry regulations and compliance standards including market trends.
• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
• Extensive negotiation and selling skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing, rating and underwriting target new business and renewal business in line with Liberty’s quality selection and adequate pricing guidelines.
• Acting as a referral point to Distribution Team for the assigned specialty products.
• Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with Distribution Team and Intermediaries (including Brokers) to facilitate the marketing and sale and training of the Liberty brand and products.
• Building the Liberty Brand and own profile within the market.
• Reviewing and negotiating policy terms and conditions, assisting with policy wordings and endorsements.
• Executing selling & negotiation strategies to ensure profitability & growth of assigned specialty product line(s).
• Contributing to an effective team environment by interacting professionally with all team members and providing development, support and assistance as required.
• Providing strategic input into product development and marketing plans as required.
• Preparing portfolio reports, as required, for dissemination to senior management.
• Representing Liberty at industry social events, conferences and other relevant market related presentations.
• Compile and present training to Distribution Team and Intermediaries on relevant topics as required.
• Working closely with claims department, risk management and all other key internal stakeholders.
• Providing input into the financial and strategic planning process relative to the assigned product line.
• Taking responsibility for mentoring, training and development of other less experienced employees in relevant product line(s).
• Lead and deliver on special projects connected to the business.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, or Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline would be desirable; MBA or professional insurance qualifications.
• AMII, FMII, ACII, FCII or other professional insurance designations is preferred.
• Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in General Insurance and holding a managerial role.
• Significant previous relevant experience in the General (non-Life) Insurance industry.
• Significant previous relevant experience in an aligned role with a broker or insurance company.
• Familiar with industry regulations and compliance standards including market trends
