Job summary

KMWE Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a toolroom technician to optimize CNC tooling and setup. You will select, install, and maintain cutting tools for CNC milling, calibrate tool heads, and manage the TDM system for production efficiency.

The role requires understanding of CNC tools and GD&T, with 1 year of related experience or a Diploma in Precision Machining. You will contribute to stock checks, tool life improvements, and safe, organized shop floor practices.

Qualifications

• Certificate/Diploma in Precision Machining/ Manufacturing Technology or equivalent; or minimum 1 year related experience.
• Good understanding of CNC cutting tools and holders for CNC machines.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings or GD&T (advantage).
• Able to use common measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with CNC machinists/programmers to optimize tool selection and machining parameters.
• Select, install, and maintain cutting tools for CNC milling machines.
• Monitor and record tool usage and replacements.
• Set up and calibrate tool heads for precision and efficiency.
• Issue correct cutting tools and raw materials to production team.
• Manage and update the TDM system and tool room records.
• Maintain tool inventory and conduct biannual stock takes.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend productivity improvements.
• Maintain a clean 5S-compliant work area and ensure safety.
• Support other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Work closely with CNC machinists/programmers to optimize tool selection and machining parameters.

Select, install, and maintain cutting tools for CNC milling machines.

Monitor/Record tool usage and replacements when needed.

Set up and calibrate tool heads to ensure precision and efficiency.

Issue the correct cutting tools and raw materials to production team.

Manage, maintain and update the TDM System.

Maintain tool inventory and conduct stock take every 6 months.

Responsible for the overall maintenance and management of cutting tools, TDM machines, and tools holders in the tool room.

Troubleshoot tooling issue and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and tool life.

Maintain a clean work area (5S practices) and safety.

Support other work assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Certificate/Diploma in Precision Machining/ Manufacturing Technology/ Mechanical/ Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent; or minimum 1 year of related experience and training.

Good understanding of CNC cutting tools and holder for CNC machines.

Ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings or GD&T will be an added advantage.

Able to use common measuring equipment.

Basic knowledge in using TDM machine.
