Job summary

Job description

We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Tender Quantity Surveyor (Tender QS) to join our commercial team in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, you will be responsible for the pre-contract phase, focusing on cost estimation, material take-offs, budget analysis, and preparation of competitive tender submissions. Your primary goal will be to secure profitable construction contracts while managing financial risks.

Key responsibilities

Review tender documents, project specifications, and architectural/structural drawings thoroughly

Prepare, compile, and submit accurate and competitive tender bids within strict deadlines

Attend pre-tender site briefings, interviews, and post-tender clarifications with clients and consultants

Conduct detailed material take-offs and establish accurate Bills of Quantities (BQ)

Build up unit rates for building materials, labor, and plant machinery based on current Malaysian market rates

Evaluate and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure cost competitiveness

Identify potential commercial risks, discrepancies in drawings, and unfavorable contract clauses during the bidding stage

Propose value engineering options and cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality

About you

Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Quantity Surveying or equivalent

Registered with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) or RICS is an added advantage

Minimum 2–5 years of working experience in pre-contract and tendering processes within the Malaysian construction industry (Main Contractor or Developer background preferred)

Strong familiarity with standard Malaysian standard methods of measurement

Competent in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD

Proven ability to work under high pressure and meet non-negotiable tender submission deadlines

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to negotiate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers

Analytical mind capable of spotting errors or gaps in complex project drawings and technical specifications
