Job summary

Perunding Quants Utara is seeking a seasoned Quantity Surveyor to lead cost control on major infrastructure and building projects in Penang. You will prepare bills of quantities, cost estimates, tender documents, and support decision-making with robust cost analysis.

Joining a consultancy environment, you will certify payments, monitor expenditures, prepare interim valuations, and liaise with project teams to ensure accurate cost information and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• A Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Experience in consultancy environments is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and cost management principles.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Key responsibilities

• Preparing and manage bill of quantities, cost estimates, and tender documents
• Conducting thorough cost analysis and feasibility studies to support project planning and decision-making
• Evaluate and certify contractor payments and variations
• Monitoring project expenditure and comparing actual costs against budgeted amounts to identify variances
• Prepare interim valuations, progress claims and final account
• Liaising with project managers, architects, engineers and contractors to ensure accurate cost information
• Conduct site inspections and attend project meetings as required

What we're looking for

• A Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent recognised qualification
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within consultancy environment
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, pricing mechanisms and cost management principles
• Excellent analytical and communication skill
• Sound understanding of Malaysian construction standards, regulations and best practices
• Experience managing project budgets and financial controls
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Preferred experience in infrastructure, commercial or residential construction projects
