Job summary

OPT Machine Vision in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a capable Field Service Engineer to serve as the primary technical contact for customers, delivering remote and on-site support, diagnosing hardware and software issues, and conducting system tests.

You will train customers, evaluate applications, prepare service reports, and travel internationally and domestically to support clients; a strong foundation in machine vision fundamentals and hands-on camera/lighting experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in machine vision, industrial automation, technical support or field service engineering.
• Solid understanding of machine vision fundamentals: cameras, lenses, lighting, image sensors, and image processing concepts.
• Hands-on experience with industrial cameras, vision lighting, lenses, and vision software.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as GigE Vision, USB3 Vision, Camera Link, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, or similar is an advantage.
• Ability to analyze customer applications and propose suitable vision solutions.
• Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Customer-oriented mindset with a proactive and responsible attitude.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Willing to travel frequently internationally and domestically.
