Job description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to act as the technical interface between our company and our customers. In this role, you will work closely with customers, service teams, and our core software development team to understand technical requirements, analyze automation system behavior, support troubleshooting activities, and contribute to the successful implementation and continuous improvement of our machine software solutions.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset who enjoys understanding complex technical problems, identifying root causes, and developing practical solutions in an automation and industrial software environment.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the technical interface between customers, field service teams, and the core software development team.

Communicate with customers to understand, clarify, and document software requirements, change requests, and technical issues.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

Work with real-time systems, including platforms such as Aerotech or Siemens PLCs.

Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of automation systems, including electrical I/O checks and signal verification.

Support the improvement, testing, and validation of new software functions.

Identify, analyze, and document abnormal process behavior in automation systems.

Provide detailed technical feedback to the development teams to support issue resolution and product improvement.

Support preparation, review, and improvement of technical documentation.

Collaborate effectively in an international and interdisciplinary team environment.

Support software-related field service activities at customer sites when required.

Required Qualifications

Degree in software engineering, automation engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable technical field.

Experience with industrial automation systems including motion and vision systems.

Experience in the development of WPF-based C# applications

Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, technical drawings and datasheets.

Experience with system testing, troubleshooting, debugging, or commissioning of automation equipment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good English communication skills and the ability to translate customer needs into clear technical requirements.

Ability to document technical findings, software requests, and test results in a structured and detailed manner.

Willingness to work in an international team and communicate with customers and colleagues across different locations.

Willingness to travel internationally on a project basis

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in customer-facing technical support, field service, commissioning, or application engineering.

Practical experience with Cognex Vision Pro vision system

Practical experience with motion controller such as Aerotech Automation1

Experience with Azure DevOps and Git would be an advantage
