Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Technical Engineer – Storage & Data Protection Services to provide technical support for Level 1 engineers, perform onsite and offsite troubleshooting, and manage incidents with thorough documentation. The role includes preventive maintenance, reporting, and assisting in project deployments.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years in IT (non-UNIX) with VMware, storage, and networking knowledge, plus Windows OS and AD/DNS/DHCP expertise and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in IT or related field.
• 2–4 years in IT environment with non-UNIX experience.
• Experience configuring VMware, storage and networking.
• Familiarity with Windows OS, AD, DNS/DHCP, and Hyper-V.
• Relevant vendor certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 support and handle escalations.
• Perform onsite/offsite troubleshooting for non-UNIX systems.
• Prepare incident and problem reports with resolutions.
• Schedule preventive maintenance activities and perform onsite maintenance.
• Generate maintenance reports uploaded to Field Service Management system.
• Assist in small- and large-scale project deployments, ensuring timelines and scope.
• Document installation and maintenance issues for projects.

Technical Engineer – Storage & Data Protection Services

Technical Support and Incident Management:

Provide technical assistance to Level 1 Engineers and handle escalations.

Offer onsite and offsite troubleshooting for non-UNIX system issues.

Prepare incident and problem management reports when required, ensuring thorough documentation of technical issues and resolutions.

Preventive Maintenance and Reporting:

Schedule preventive maintenance activities with customers and perform onsite preventive maintenance.

Generate comprehensive maintenance reports and ensure they are uploaded to the Field Service Management System.

Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction with maintenance activities and address any arising technical needs.

Project Implementation and Management:

Handle small-scale project deployments independently, including configuration and testing.

Assist in large-scale project deployments, ensuring adherence to timelines and project scope.

Administrative and Team Coordination:

Ensure timely updates of installation and maintenance tickets.

Provide input for project documentation, including design and technical implementation issues.

Education and Experience:

Qualifications: Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or a related field.

Relevant Industry Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience in an IT environment, with a strong background in non-UNIX systems.

Technical Expertise: Proficiency in configuring and designing infrastructure solutions based on VMware, Microsoft, and storage solutions.

Expertise in VMware virtualization vSphere and Aria Operations

Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, routing) and backup solutions (Veritas, Veeam, Dell Networker or Commvault).

Familiarity with SAN storage technologies (Dell, HPE, NetApp or PureStoreage) is an added advantage.

Familiar with Microsoft Windows OS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Hyper-V.

Certifications: VMware Certified Professional, HPE (ATP or ASE), Veeam (VMCE), Dell Storage Administration (PowerStore, Unity), Veritas Certified Specialistare preferred. Additional certifications in MCITP, MCTS, MCSE, MCSA certifications or ITIL are advantageous.

Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills, with experience in root cause analysis. Ability to work independently and in teams, including after-hours support as needed.
