Job summary

University of Cyberjaya is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Lead to guide and develop the AP team within a large university setting in Cyberjaya. You will oversee day-to-day invoice processing, PO matching, payments, and vendor relationships.

Lead process improvements, ensure policy compliance, and support period-end close while delivering accurate AP reports to management. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of accounts payable experience, with 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field or equivalent experience.
• ACCA/ICAEW or equivalent qualifications highly desirable.
• Experience in higher education or large organisational environment preferred.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.

Job description

Lead and supervise the accounts payable team, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure excellence in daily operations

Manage vendor relationships, including resolution of discrepancies, queries, and escalations

Ensure compliance with university policies, financial regulations, and audit requirements

Reconcile accounts payable records and conduct regular variance analysis

Implement and optimise accounts payable processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs

Prepare and analyse accounts payable reports for management and stakeholders

Manage the three-way match process (invoice, purchase order, goods receipt) to ensure accuracy

Coordinate with other departments, including procurement, finance, and operations, to resolve payment issues

Maintain accurate vendor master files and ensure data integrity within accounting systems

Assist with period-end close activities and reconciliations

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ICAEW, or equivalent is highly desirable

Minimum 5-7 years of accounts payable experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity

Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, invoice management, and vendor reconciliation

Proficiency in accounting software systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)

Experience working in higher education or a large organisational environment is preferred

Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively across departments

Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, compliance, and maintaining high ethical standards

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

Knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards and tax regulations is advantageous
