Job summary

Computer Land Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a System Engineer to design, implement, and maintain client IT infrastructure. This full-time role focuses on reliability, security and optimal performance of networks and systems to support business operations.

You will design, deploy and maintain infrastructure, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage security and DR planning. Collaboration with client IT teams and continuous learning are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in system administration, network administration or system engineering.
• Strong server OS knowledge (Windows Server, Linux/Unix).
• Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and firewall configuration.
• Proficiency with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Cloud experience (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
• Solid security fundamentals: access controls, encryption, threat mitigation.
• ITIL knowledge and relevant certifications (advantageous).

We are seeking a talented and motivated System Engineer to join Computer Land Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining client IT infrastructure and systems. As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of client network and system environments. This role is integral to supporting client business operations and enabling clients organisation to deliver excellence to our clients and stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

• Design, deploy and maintain network and systems infrastructure to meet organisational requirements
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for optimisation and improvement
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to networks, servers, and system components
• Implement and maintain security protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
• Perform system upgrades, patches and updates whilst minimising downtime and operational disruption
• Document system configurations, procedures and changes to maintain accurate records
• Collaborate with client IT teams and stakeholders to support business initiatives and technology projects
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and junior technical staff
• Conduct capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements to support business growth
• Manage backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in system administration, network administration, or system engineering roles
• Strong knowledge of server operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux, or Unix environments
• Experience with network administration, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and firewall configuration
• Proficiency in virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V or similar platforms
• Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• Strong understanding of system security principles, including user access controls, encryption and threat mitigation
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues
• Knowledge of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL is highly desirable
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Associate or Cisco CCNA are advantageous
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation
