Job summary

SF Metal Sdn Bhd, a young and dynamic company established in 2012 with over 55 staff and a 33,000 sq. ft. facility, specializes in sheet metal, steel structures, and precision CNC machining for semiconductor, disk drive and electronics industries.

We are seeking a Purchasing Executive in Penang to identify and source suppliers, negotiate terms and manage procurement processes, while collaborating closely with production, logistics and finance to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration or related field.
• 2-5 years of proven purchasing, sourcing or procurement experience in manufacturing or logistics.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control.
• Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality.
• Proficiency in procurement software systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for strong working relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure.
• Knowledge of industry standards, regulations and compliance.
• Experience with supply chain optimization or vendor management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and source new suppliers across product categories, ensuring competitive pricing and quality standards.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable terms while maintaining quality and delivery requirements.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance, conducting regular reviews to ensure compliance with agreements and quality specifications.
• Process purchase orders and requisitions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company purchasing policies and procedures.
• Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with operations teams to forecast demand and plan procurement activities.
• Conduct market analysis and research to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
• Track and reconcile invoices, delivery notes and purchase orders to resolve discrepancies.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments including production, logistics and finance to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and generate reports on purchasing metrics and supplier performance.
• Support the optimization of inventory management systems and processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Job description

What we're looking for

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration or a related field

2-5 years of proven experience in purchasing, sourcing or procurement roles within a manufacturing or logistics environment

Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control principles

Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing without compromising quality

Proficiency in procurement software systems and Microsoft Office applications

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines

Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations and compliance requirements

Preferably, experience with supply chain optimization, cost reduction initiatives or vendor management systems
