Job summary

Zalam Corporation Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to oversee site health and safety in construction projects in Perak. You will conduct daily inspections, develop OSH procedures, and train site personnel to maintain compliance with DOSH/JKKP requirements.

Responsibilities include auditing activities, coordinating emergency drills, and reporting safety metrics to management, while ensuring PPE usage and safe work practices across the site.

Qualifications

• Valid DOSH/JKKP Yellow Book required.
• Minimum 4 years of construction safety experience.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing preferred.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure health and safety compliance.
• Provide induction and safety training to site personnel.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses, documenting findings and corrective actions.

Must possess valid DOSH/JKKP YELLOW BOOK.

Minimum 4 years experience in construction. Preferably in Semiconductor factory.

Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Develop, implement and maintain health and safety policies, procedures and protocols specific to construction operations

Provide induction and ongoing health and safety training to all site personnel

Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions

Maintain accurate records of all safety-related activities, incidents and training undertaken on site

Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with PPE requirements

Liaise with external authorities, regulatory bodies and insurance representatives on health and safety matters

Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to raise awareness and promote a strong safety culture

Manage and coordinate emergency response procedures and ensure evacuation routes remain clear and accessible

Report regularly to senior management on health and safety performance metrics and key performance indicators

Assist the Safety and Health Officer (SHO) in implementing and monitoring the project’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements.

Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and potential hazards.

Monitor workers, subcontractors and site activities to ensure compliance with approved safety procedures, method statements and risk assessments/HIRARC.

Ensure workers use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with site safety rules.

Conduct and coordinate toolbox meetings, safety briefings and site safety inductions.

Monitor construction activities including work at height, scaffolding, lifting operations, excavation, hot work, electrical work and confined-space activities, where applicable.

Assist in preparing and maintaining risk assessments, inspection checklists, safety reports and other OSH documentation.

Report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses and accidents to the SHO/Project Management and assist with investigations.

Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions arising from safety inspections and audits.

Ensure proper housekeeping, access/egress, barricading, signage and traffic management within the construction site.

Inspect and monitor scaffolding, ladders, machinery, equipment and temporary works for safety compliance.

Monitor subcontractors and workers to ensure compliance with project safety requirements and applicable DOSH/JKKP regulations.

Assist in conducting emergency drills, fire safety activities and emergency response procedures.

Participate in site safety meetings and Safety & Health Committee activities, where applicable.

Maintain proper records of daily inspections, toolbox meetings, training, incidents, corrective actions and safety activities.

Immediately stop or report activities presenting serious or imminent danger and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.

Perform any other safety and health duties assigned by the SHO or Project Manager.
