Job summary

Charter Built Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Safety Officer to oversee HSE programs on a construction project in Malaysia.

You will drive weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and daily site inspections to ensure compliance with HSE policies. You will maintain signage, equipment, and performance boards while liaising with authorities, clients, and contractors. The role requires a DOSH Yellow Book holder with a Diploma/Degree in OSH or Safety Certificate and at least five years of construction HSE

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Management or Safety Certificate from approved authorities.
• DOSH Yellow Book Holder is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in Health & Safety (Construction) field.
• Proven supervisory experience is an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
• Demonstrated ability to apply risk assessment to operations.

Responsibilities

• Implement and promote HSE programs (weekly meetings, safety talks, toolbox talks) to raise awareness among personnel.
• Ensure firefighting equipment is adequate, maintained, and properly located.
• Maintain signage and Safety Performance Board updates.
• Ensure all project work complies with HSE policy and procedures.
• Conduct daily site inspections to verify contractor compliance with HSE standards.
• Assist Safety Officer/PM to conduct daily surveillance and complete SOP checklists.
• Identify, assess, and control hazards on site and maintain safe operations.
• Assist site supervisor/PM in writing incident/accident reports and participate in investigations.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and government officials (DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, CIDB) on HSE issues.
• Perform other safety & health duties as assigned by superiors.

Job description

Implementation of all HSE programs that have been planned for the project such as weekly HSE meeting, weekly safety talks, daily tool box talk and other HSE programs to promote HSE awareness among personnel involved in the project

Ensure that firefighting equipment is sufficient, maintained in good condition and is placed in the correct and appropriate area

Ensure relevant signage are displayed and Safety Performance Board is updated

Ensure all work carried out for the project is complying with the HSE policy and procedures

Perform daily site inspection in order to ensure contractor compliance to HSE

Assist Safety Officer / Project Manager / Safety Personnel to carry out daily surveillance at work place / project complete with check list (SOP FORMS) signed by him as witnessed

Identify, access and control hazards at work site, based on priority and maintain safe operation throughout

Assist the Supervisor / Project Manager of the project work site to wrote any incident / accident report and take part in the investigation

Liaise with clients, consultant, subcontractors and relevant government officials (e.g.: DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, KEMEMTRIAN KESIHATION & CIDB) to identify and resolve health, safety and environment issues.

Perform any other safety & health duties assigned by Superior / the Management from time to time

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must possess at least Diploma / Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Management or Safety Certificate from approved authorites.

Candidate must be a DOSH Yellow Book Holder.

At least 5 year(s) of experience in the Health and Safety (Construction Industry) field is required for this position.

Proven experience of Supervisory Skills will be an added advantage.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.

Required Skill(s): Occupational Safety & Health Management, Construction Management etc.

Have the ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment on company operations and activities.
