Job summary

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking a Safety Site Supervisor to lead safety on multiple construction sites in Penang Island. The role focuses on enforcing health, safety and environmental compliance, with emphasis on hazard identification, risk assessment, and regulatory adherence.

Qualified candidates will have a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in OSH or related field, 5+ years of on‑site safety experience, and a DOSH‑approved certification.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience as a Safety Officer or Safety Supervisor on construction sites
• Current DOSH approved Safety and Health Officer certification, or equivalent qualification
• Comprehensive knowledge of Malaysian construction safety regulations, OSHA standards and industry best practices
• Experience developing and implementing safety management systems and site‑specific safety plans
• Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills with corrective actions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with workers and external stakeholders
• Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to conduct toolbox talks and safety training for diverse teams
• Physical fitness to inspect sites and travel between project sites
• Valid driving licence and reliable transport
• Experience with ISO 45001 implementation and auditing
• Yellow Book familiarity

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of construction sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance

• Liaise with regulatory authorities and respond to inspections
• Promote proactive safety culture and continuous improvement programs

About the role

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking an experienced and dedicated Safety Site Supervisor to join our team on a full-time basis based in Penang Island, Penang. This is a critical role within our construction operations, where you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all our construction sites. As Safety Site Supervisor, you will play a vital role in protecting our workforce, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.

Key responsibilities

Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of construction sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and procedures tailored to project requirements and risk assessments

Lead toolbox talks and safety training sessions for site personnel to promote awareness and understanding of safety protocols

Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices across all site activities

Maintain comprehensive safety documentation, records and reports, ensuring all statutory requirements are met and filed appropriately

Collaborate with project managers, site engineers and contractors to integrate safety into all construction planning and execution phases

Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for new work activities or changes to site operations

Liaise with regulatory authorities and respond to inspections, ensuring the site maintains full compliance with health and safety legislation

Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging worker participation in safety initiatives and continuous improvement programmes

What we're looking for

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a related field

Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience as a Safety Officer or Safety Supervisor on construction sites

Current and valid certification as a DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety and Health) approved Safety and Health Officer, or equivalent professional qualification

Comprehensive knowledge of Malaysian construction safety regulations, OSHA standards and industry best practices

Proven experience in developing and implementing safety management systems and site-specific safety plans

Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills with demonstrated ability to implement corrective actions

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with workers at all levels and external stakeholders

Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office applications

Ability to conduct effective toolbox talks and provide safety training to diverse teams

Physical fitness to regularly inspect construction sites and work in challenging site environments

Valid driving licence and reliable transport to travel between multiple project sites

Preferred: Experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) implementation and auditing
