About the role
We are seeking a Site Engineer in Nabawan District, Sabah. As Site Engineer, you will play a critical role in overseeing the technical and operational aspects of civil and structural engineering projects on site. This position is essential to ensuring that all construction activities comply with design specifications, safety regulations, and project timelines. You will be the key technical representative on site, responsible for liaising between the design team, contractors, and project management to deliver high-quality construction outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise daily construction activities and ensure all work is carried out in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards
- Monitor and control the progress of construction works, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective measures to maintain project schedules
- Conduct regular site inspections and prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for project management and stakeholders
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on site, conducting safety briefings and investigations where necessary
- Liaise with contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers to coordinate activities and resolve technical and logistical issues
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, including labour, materials, equipment, and quality control documentation
- Inspect materials and workmanship to ensure they meet specification requirements before approval for installation or further construction phases
- Prepare and manage site documentation including as-built drawings, variation orders, and defect registers
- Support the project engineer in cost control, budget management, and contract administration matters
- Conduct site surveys and setting out of works as required during construction phases
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised institution
- Professional registration or eligibility as a Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent qualification recognised in Malaysia
- Minimum 3-5 years of site engineering experience on commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects
- Proficiency in site management software, CAD applications, and Microsoft Office suite
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, building codes, and safety regulations applicable in Malaysia
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Sound knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures in construction
- Willingness to work on site in Nabawan District and flexibility to work extended hours when required
- Valid driving licence and reliable transport to and from the site
- Experience with structural, civil, or infrastructure projects in Sabah or East Malaysia would be advantageous
- Familiarity with project management and coordination in remote or challenging environments is preferred
