Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
• 2–3 years of site Engineer experience on construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural principles and building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
• Organisational and time management skills; good communication.
• Familiar with site management software and MS Office; HSE awareness.
• PE registration or candidacy preferred; BIM experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise daily construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections and maintain records of progress, materials, and labour.
• Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and management for timely issue resolution.
• Prepare daily/weekly site reports documenting progress, challenges, and actions.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site.
• Test and verify material/workmanship per project specs; manage site documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for timely delivery of materials/services.
• Identify risks/delays and escalate to project management; assist in planning and resource allocation.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Site Engineer to join MATRIX PARTNER SDN BHD in Kulai, Johor. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing civil and structural engineering projects from inception through to completion. As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. This role is essential to maintaining the quality and integrity of our engineering projects whilst ensuring smooth site operations and effective communication between all stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

• Monitoring and supervising daily construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards
• Conducting regular site inspections and maintaining comprehensive records of progress, materials, and labour
• Liaising between the design team, contractors, and project management to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of site issues
• Preparing daily and weekly site reports documenting progress, challenges, and corrective actions taken
• Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site
• Testing and verifying the quality of materials and workmanship in accordance with project specifications
• Managing site documentation including as-built drawings, material certificates, and inspection records
• Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
• Identifying and escalating risks and potential delays to project management
• Assisting in project planning and resource allocation to optimise site efficiency

What we're looking for

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Site Engineer on construction projects
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, construction methodologies, and building codes
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and construction plans
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse teams
• Proficiency in site management software and Microsoft Office applications
• Sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate project documentation
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or candidacy with the relevant professional body is preferred
• Experience with building information modelling (BIM) software is advantageous
