Job summary

SPRING POWER SDN BHD in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia, seeks a Project Site Engineer to oversee on-site civil and structural works on major infrastructure projects. Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2-3 years of experience as a Site Engineer on civil/structural projects.
• Knowledge of construction methods, codes and safety standards in Malaysia.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs and construction plans.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with site management software and MS Office.
• Understanding of quality control/quality assurance procedures.
• Professional registration with BEM is an advantage.

About the role
SPRING POWER SDN BHD is seeking a Project Site Engineer to join our team in Bintulu, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in the successful execution and delivery of our civil and structural engineering projects. As a Project Site Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing on-site operations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This role is essential to our operations and offers the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure projects whilst managing technical and practical challenges in a dynamic field environment.

Key responsibilities

Monitor and supervise daily construction activities to ensure work is executed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and contractual requirements

Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to verify that materials, workmanship and construction methods meet the required standards

Prepare and maintain comprehensive site records, including daily reports, progress documentation, photographs and test certificates

Liaise between the main contractor, consultants, and clients to facilitate effective communication and resolve site-related issues

Manage site safety protocols and ensure all personnel adhere to health and safety regulations and best practices

Co-ordinate with subcontractors and material suppliers to ensure timely delivery and proper handling of resources

Identify and document variations, defects and delays, and recommend corrective actions to maintain project timelines

Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and project completion documentation

Support the project manager in budget tracking and cost control measures on site

What we're looking for

A relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline

Minimum 2-3 years of experience working as a Site Engineer on construction projects, particularly in civil or structural engineering

Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and safety standards applicable to the Malaysian context

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and construction plans

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders

Proficiency in using site management software and Microsoft Office applications

A sound understanding of quality control and quality assurance procedures

Professional registration or willingness to pursue registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is an advantage

A proactive approach to problem-solving with a commitment to continuous improvement

Willingness to work flexible hours when project demands require it
