Job summary

INFICON Malaysia Sdn Bhd seeks a dedicated Service & Repair Engineer to perform installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair activities. You will collaborate with senior engineers on complex troubleshooting and develop technical competency while maintaining quality documentation.

Based in Shah Alam with occasional travel to Penang and other customer sites, the role requires hands-on equipment experience, strong customer service, and the ability to train customers and colleagues

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; Mechanical or Field Engineering preferred.
• 3–5 years hands-on equipment engineering experience; semiconductors a plus.
• Experience with helium leak detection and vacuum instrumentation.
• Strong willingness to learn and explore new technologies.
• Ability to conduct product demos, seminars, and training.
• Proven troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site and in-house service activities, including installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, inspection, testing, and basic repair of equipment.
• Assist senior engineers with equipment commissioning, customer training, troubleshooting, and complex repair activities.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues using established procedures and guidance from senior engineers.
• Perform functional testing, verification, and performance checks after maintenance or repair activities.
• Carry out preventive maintenance, calibration, and routine service activities according to established service procedures and schedules.
• Support repair and troubleshooting activities involving leak detection and vacuum.
• Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to senior engineers or the appropriate support teams.
• Maintain accurate and timely service documentation, including service reports, repair records, calibration data, and other required records.
• Support new product introduction, product evaluation, and field activities as assigned.
• Communicate professionally with customers during service activities and provide basic technical support within the assigned scope.
• Follow established safety procedures, service standards, quality requirements, and customer site regulations.
• Maintain proper care and control of company tools, test equipment, spare parts, and service assets.
• Participate actively in technical training and continuously develop knowledge and competency across assigned product lines.

Position

Dedicated Service & Repair Engineer performing installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair activities. You will collaborate with senior engineers on complex troubleshooting, maintain service documentation, and communicate professionally with customers. Operating under established quality standards, you will progressively develop technical competency and take on more independent responsibilities as expertise grows.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering field. Preferred Mechanical Engineering or Field Engineering.

Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in equipment engineering. Those with semiconductors industry experience is a plus.

Experience in Helium leak detection systems and vacuum instrumentation. Vacuum pumps, gauges, valves, fitting and related vacuum components.

Strong willingness to learn and support new technologies and products.

Ability to conduct product demos, seminars, workshops, and training.

Strong customer-service mindset with ability to build trusted technical relationships.

Proven hands-on experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining instrumentation or industrial equipment.

High adaptability to new assignments and changing business requirements.

Primary work location is Shah Alam with periodic travel to Penang and other customer sites as required. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
