Job summary

ASMPT MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. is seeking a Senior Shipping Officer to oversee inbound and outbound shipments, coordinate schedules, and ensure accurate documentation in line with Malaysian Customs and LMW requirements.

You will provide guidance on shipping and customs, manage freight forwarders, monitor service performance, and lead process improvements to cut costs while maintaining compliance. A Diploma or Degree in logistics and 4–6 years of experience are preferred; English and Bahasa Malaysia

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration or related discipline.
• Professional certification in logistics or customs is advantageous.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience in shipping, logistics, import/export or customs operations.
• Preferably 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Practical experience with LMW operations and Malaysian Customs procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inbound/outbound shipments, prioritize critical shipments, coordinate shipment schedules, resolve operational exceptions.
• Review customs declarations, monitor LMW requirements, coordinate with Customs/forwarders, manage discrepancies, support audits.
• Review invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB and permits, validate documentation, establish controls to prevent errors.
• Review reconciliation of physical inventory, ERP transactions and customs records, investigate variances, coordinate corrective actions.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, transporters and customs agents, monitor service performance, resolve issues.
• Analyze shipment, customs and logistics data, prepare performance reports, identify trends and risks.
• Identify process gaps, lead improvement initiatives, review logistics costs, implement preventive actions.
• Guide Shipping Officers, provide technical guidance on shipping/LMW matters, share knowledge.

Job description

The role of the Senior Shipping Officer is to oversee and coordinate end-to-end inbound and outbound shipping operations, ensuring timely movement of materials and finished goods while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with Malaysian Customs and LMW requirements.

The Senior Shipping Officer provides technical guidance on shipping and customs matters, resolves operational and compliance issues, coordinates logistics service providers, and drives continuous improvement in shipping processes, cost, service level and regulatory compliance.1. Responsibility

End-to-End Shipping Operations

Oversee inbound/outbound shipments, Prioritize critical shipments, Coordinate shipment schedules, Resolve operational exceptions.

LMW & Customs Compliance

Review customs declarations, Monitor LMW requirements, Coordinate with Customs/forwarders, Manage customs discrepancies, Support audits and statutory reporting.

Shipping Documentation & Controls

Review invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB and permits, Validate documentation, Establish controls to prevent errors.

Review reconciliation of physical inventory, ERP transactions and customs records, Investigate variances, Coordinate corrective actions.

Logistics Service Provider Management

Coordinate with freight forwarders, transporters and customs agents, Monitor service performance, Resolve service issues.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

Analyze shipment, customs and logistics data, Prepare performance reports, identify trends, risks and recurring issues.

Process Improvement & Cost Optimization

Identify process gaps, Lead improvement initiatives, Review logistics processes and costs, Implement corrective/preventive actions.

Team Support & Knowledge Development

Guide Shipping Officers, provide technical guidance on shipping/LMW matters, Share knowledge and support training.

Educational Qualification & Professional Knowledge

Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration or a related discipline.

Professional certification in logistics, customs or international trade would be an advantage.

4–6 years of relevant experience in shipping, logistics, import/export or customs operations.

Preferably 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Practical experience in LMW operations and Malaysian Customs procedures is strongly preferred.

Experience handling both inbound and outbound shipments, including customs clearance.

Experience working with freight forwarders, customs agents, transporters and shipping lines.

Experience with customs declarations, LMW reporting and inventory/customs reconciliation.

Experience supporting customs audits or inspections.

Working experience with ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
