Job summary

Master Sofa Industries Sdn Bhd is seeking a Freight / Shipping Coordinator to manage bookings with freight forwarders, coordinate with multiple agents, and oversee end-to-end shipment processes from booking to documentation and delivery.

The ideal candidate should have a Diploma/degree in Logistics or Business Admin and 1–2 years in shipping or forwarding. Fresh graduates are welcome; strong MS Office skills and language abilities are valued.

Qualifications

• Must have a Diploma/Bachelor’s or postgraduate diploma in Logistics or Business Administration or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in shipping or forwarding.
• Fresh graduates may apply since training will be provided; SPm leavers with relevant experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Handle bookings with appointed freight forwarders and ensure timely confirmations.
• Follow up with forwarders and update forwarding agents with latest information.
• Monitor vessel departure schedules from carriers’ sites.
• Prepare shipment loading schedules and ensure daily shipments are executed.
• Coordinate with forwarding agents for container arrangements and movements.
• Verify shipping documents for completeness and accuracy; submit promptly to agents to avoid delays.
• Email shipping documents to required parties.
• Prepare LC submission documents to banks for LC shipments.
• Record shipment data accurately in the shipment master data file.

Job description

This role involves managing freight bookings, coordinating with freight forwarders and shipping agents, and overseeing the complete shipment process from booking to documentation and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for doing bookings with the appointed freight forwarders
• Follow up and ensure the freight forwarders provide the latest booking confirmation and update the latest information to the forwarding agents
• Check and monitor vessel departure schedules from carriers' websites
• Prepare the shipment loading schedule
• Ensure daily shipments are planned and carried out without fail
• Liaise with the forwarding agent for the containers' arrangement and monitor the containers' movement for both in and out
• Check the completeness and accuracy of shipping documentation and ensure that submissions are made immediately to the forwarding agents and freight forwarders to avoid delays and avoid late document submission penalties
• Responsible for emailing the shipping documents to related parties as per requirements
• Prepare LC submission documents to the bank for LC shipment
• Record the shipment data accurately in the shipment master data file

About you

Must possess at least a Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, in Logistics / Business Administration or equivalent

1 to 2 years of relevant experience in the shipping or forwarding field

Familiar with using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Ability to communicate effectively and build collaborative relationships
