Qualifications

About the role

Tamco Switchgear (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Executive or Senior Executive in Shipping to join our dynamic team based in Shah Alam, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in managing our international shipping operations and ensuring efficient movement of our products across global markets. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for coordinating complex shipping arrangements and optimising our supply chain operations to support the continued growth of our manufacturing and export business.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage international shipping operations, including booking cargo space, arranging transport modes, and liaising with freight forwarders and shipping lines
• Prepare export documents and submit them to the relevant authorities, including the Certificate of Origin (COO), Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and foreign embassies, based on Letter of Credit (LC) requirements.
• Manage import and export customs procedures, ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations and tariff classifications
• Monitor shipment status and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and customers regarding delivery schedules and logistics
• Handle customs clearance and duties assessment, working closely with customs brokers and authorities
• Review and arrange agent invoices for submission to Finance for payment processing.
• Identify and resolve shipping delays, damages, or other logistics issues to minimise disruption to business operations
• Prepare customs reports and manage renewals for MIDA duty exemptions and sales tax exemptions.
• Perform other tasks and duties assigned by the reporting supervisor.
• Follow and comply with the Company’s Safety and Health Policy, procedures, and requirements.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in shipping, logistics, or import/export operations within a manufacturing or trading environment
• Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures, customs regulations, and trade compliance requirements
• Proficiency in shipping documentation and familiarity with systems such as customs clearance software and freight management platforms
• Strong organisational and time management abilities with capability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously
• Able to liaise and communicate effectively with government agencies, including Customs, MIDA, and MITI.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in processing complex shipping and customs documentation
• Proactive problem-solving approach and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
