Private Advertiser is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial matters for major construction projects. You will work with project teams to optimize profitability, manage contracts, and drive cost control from tender through to final accounts.
The role requires a degree/diploma in QS or related field, at least 5 years of relevant experience, and strong skills in contract administration, measurement, costing and variation management.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a quantity surveying professional who wants to take ownership of commercial matters, work closely with project teams, and contribute directly to the successful delivery and profitability of major construction projects.
Manage and monitor construction contracts from commencement to completion.
Review contract documents, specifications, drawings, bills of quantities and relevant conditions of contract.
Monitor contractual obligations, risks, variations and commercial matters.
Prepare and manage Variation Orders (VO), Extension of Time (EOT), claims and other contractual submissions.
Assist in resolving contractual and commercial issues with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
Prepare cost estimates, budgets and cost plans.
Conduct quantity take-off and measurement of construction works.
Monitor project expenditure, commitments and overall cost performance.
Prepare monthly progress claims and payment applications.
Verify subcontractor and supplier claims, measurements and supporting documents.
Monitor project profitability and identify potential cost savings.
Review tender documents and prepare Bills of Quantities (BQ).
Analyse quotations and conduct commercial comparisons.
Assist in tender preparation, evaluation and negotiation.
Support the procurement of subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.
Ensure procurement activities are commercially sound and properly documented.
Prepare regular commercial and cost reports for Management and Project Teams.
Highlight potential cost overruns, contractual risks and commercial issues.
Maintain accurate records of project costs, variations, claims and commitments.
Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Construction Teams and Finance.
Provide guidance and technical support to Quantity Surveyors and junior QS staff.
Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
Attend site meetings, commercial meetings and negotiations when required.
Maintain professional relationships while protecting the company's commercial interests.
Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction quantity surveying.
Strong knowledge of contract administration, measurement, costing, claims and variation management.
Experience in handling main contractor/subcontractor commercial matters will be an advantage.
Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and contract documents.
Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Willing to travel or be based at project sites when required.
