Job summary

The Challenge

Managing a handful of solar panels is easy. Managing the reliability, performance, and uptime of a portfolio of utility-scale solar PV plants — where every percentage point of Performance Ratio matters, where inverter faults and grid incidents demand answers within hours, and where your team looks to you for the call — is not.
If you're the kind of leader who can walk into a room of senior management and explain a root cause analysis in plain language, then walk onto a site and challenge a contractor's technical recommendation with confidence — this role is built for you.

We're also looking for someone who isn't satisfied with “this is how it's always been done.” Someone curious enough to ask “what if we did this differently,” disciplined enough to write it up properly, and capable enough to take that idea from a whiteboard concept to something running on-site.

We're looking for a Senior Manager, Operations who doesn't wait to be told what to do. Someone who owns the outcome, not just the activity — and who's excited to grow with us as our business expands beyond solar into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

What You'll Own

a) Operations

• Command the day-to-day performance of multiple large-scale solar PV plants — safety, reliability, and results
• Track plant availability, Performance Ratio (PR), generation, and losses like it's your own business, and act fast on anything that slips
• Direct planned and corrective maintenance across plant teams and O&M contractors
• Ensure every site has what it needs — manpower, spares, resources — to never miss a beat
• Hold O&M contractors and vendors to account against scope, quality, and contract

b) Technical & Performance

• Dig into plant performance data and catch degradation or losses before they become bigger problems
• Lead investigations into major incidents and equipment failures — PV modules, inverters, transformers, RMU/MV equipment, switchgear, protection systems, SCADA/PPC
• Interrogate root cause analyses and push back when a proposed fix isn't good enough
• Go toe-to-toe with OEMs, consultants, and technical specialists on the hardest problems
• Shape the operational budget and maintenance strategy that keeps assets performing for decades

c) Innovation & Internal Projects

• Champion research and development initiatives aimed at improving plant performance, maintenance efficiency, and operational processes
• Explore new technologies, tools, and digital solutions — from advanced analytics to automation — and assess their real-world value for our plants
• Lead internal projects end-to-end, from initial concept through to implementation and results
• Produce clear, well-structured technical write-ups and proposals that make the case for new ideas and win buy-in from decision-makers
• Stay ahead of emerging trends in solar O&M, predictive maintenance, and plant monitoring technology
• Build a culture within the team that treats “better” as always possible, not just “good enough”

d) Stakeholder & Regulatory Relationships

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with authorities, regulators, vendors, and other key stakeholders
• Anticipate regulatory and stakeholder needs ahead of time, rather than reacting after issues arise
• Represent the company with credibility in front of authorities and regulatory bodies, and manage these relationships proactively
• Confidently present plant performance, technical findings, and proposals to senior management, authorities, and external parties alike
• Act as a trusted point of contact who can navigate sensitive conversations and keep stakeholders aligned
• Build and lead a team of Operations Engineers, Performance Engineers, and site O&M personnel who trust your judgment
• Raise the bar on the quality of every report and recommendation coming out of your team
• Deliver the kind of management reporting that makes decisions easy — clear, sharp, and honest about risk
• Keep operations compliant and defensible, working with Competent Persons, authorities, and utilities

WHAT IT TAKES

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related discipline
• 8–12 years in solar PV, power generation, or industrial plant operations
• 3–5+ years leading teams.
• Real technical fluency — you can read a drawing, a test report, and a performance curve, and know what they're telling you
• A track record of managing contractors and incidents under pressure
• Technology-savvy, with genuine interest in R&D and turning improvement ideas into operational reality
• Strong technical writing skills — able to turn ideas into clear, well-argued proposals and reports
• Confident, polished presentation skills, comfortable in front of senior management, authorities, and external stakeholders
• Proven ability to build relationships with regulators, authorities, and vendors, and to anticipate their needs
• Genuine curiosity about Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and a willingness to learn and grow into this space
• The instinct to know when to decide and when to escalation

Bonus points for: utility-scale/LSS experience, 11kV/33kV/132kV/275kV systems, SCADA/PPC exposure, predictive maintenance or digital O&M tools, RCA expertise, Competent Person / Energy Commission knowledge, or any exposure to BESS technology.
