Job summary

OCBC is seeking a highly skilled AS400 (IBM i) System Engineer to join its Infrastructure Services team in Malaysia. The role focuses on maintaining the core banking environment, including IBM i, storage arrays, SAN switches, and encryption key management systems.

You will drive system health, performance tuning, patching, DR planning, and automation initiatives. You will work within a dynamic, security‑minded bank, ensuring high availability and reliability of critical systems.

Qualifications

Minimum of 7 years’ hands-on experience working with IBM i (AS400) systems.
At least 2 years’ experience with storage and SAN products.
Proven experience with Virtual Tape Library (VTL) technologies.
Familiarity with IBM i PowerHA technology is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Oversee and maintain the health of the core banking system environment (IBM i, storage arrays, SAN switches).
Conduct regular system health checks on hardware and operating systems.
Analyze, diagnose, and resolve software and hardware issues to minimize downtime.
Plan and execute patch management for IBM products (IBM i, VIOS, Copy Services Manager, ConnectDirect, Guardium).
Manage OS installations, restorations, and upgrades for IBM i environments.
Coordinate disaster recovery exercises and BAU change requests.
