Microtronics Technology Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a seasoned Production Planner to manage end-to-end planning for EMS manufacturing in Johor Bahru. The role coordinates customer orders, demand forecasts, and material availability to ensure timely delivery and optimal capacity utilization.
The successful candidate will develop weekly/monthly production plans, release work orders, and monitor KPIs such as OTD and inventory accuracy. Strong ERP/MRP experience and SAP knowledge are essential.
Responsible for end-to-end production planning activities, from customer order receipt through manufacturing execution to final product delivery. The role ensures efficient production scheduling, material availability, and cross-functional coordination to achieve customer delivery commitments, optimize production capacity, and support overall business objectives. The incumbent will work closely with Production, Purchasing, Stores, Logistics, Engineering, and Sales teams to maintain smooth operational flow and high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
A. Customer Order & Demand Management
Receive and review customer Purchase Orders (POs) and forecasts.
Create and maintain Sales Orders for finished goods and component sales in the ERP system.
Analyze customer demand trends and update forecasts on a weekly, monthly, and PO-based basis.
Monitor customer requirements and proactively identify potential supply or delivery risks.
B. Production Planning & Scheduling
Develop and execute weekly and monthly production plans based on customer demand, capacity, and material availability.
Prepare SMT and production line schedules to optimize machine utilization and manpower resources.
Release work orders and material requisitions to Stores for production kitting.
Continuously review and adjust production schedules to accommodate demand fluctuations and operational constraints.
C. Material Planning & Supply Management
Monitor material availability to support production requirements.
Identify, escalation, and follow up on Assurance of Supply (AOS) issues to minimize production disruptions.
Coordinate closely with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams to resolve material shortages and expedite critical components.
Ensure accurate planning parameters and inventory data are maintained within the ERP system.
D. Delivery & Logistics Coordination
Liaise with Logistics and Warehouse teams to ensure timely shipment of finished goods to customers.
Coordinate RMA (Return Material Authorization) and replacement shipments as required.
Ensure customer delivery commitments are achieved and communicated effectively.
E. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor and drive achievement of monthly sales and shipment targets.
Track and report key operational KPIs, including:
On-Time Delivery (OTD)
Customer Request Date (CRD) Performance
Production Plan Adherence
Inventory Accuracy
Prepare planning reports, forecasts, and operational analyses for management review.
F. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Participate in daily operational meetings and collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Stores, and Logistics teams.
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing planning efficiency, inventory control, and customer satisfaction.
Assist the Planning Manager in daily operational and strategic planning activities.
Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate superior or Head of Department.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Production Planning, Material Planning, or Supply Chain Planning within a manufacturing environment, preferably EMS/Electronics Manufacturing.
Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems; SAP knowledge is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of production planning, capacity planning, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and make informed planning decisions.
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data maintenance and reporting.
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
