Sales & Application Engineer

Job Summary
The Sales & Application Engineer is responsible for expanding Wawasan Gas business in Pengerang and Johor while ensuring successful execution of ongoing service contracts and projects. The role combines technical sales, customer relationship management, project coordination, manpower planning, and contract execution to ensure customer satisfaction and business growth.
The ideal candidate must be able to independently manage customer accounts, prepare technical and commercial proposals, coordinate site activities, and oversee project execution from order receipt through completion.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and grow sales opportunities in Pengerang, Johor, and surrounding industrial areas.
- Promote Wawasan Gas products, services, and technical solutions.
- Conduct customer visits, technical presentations, and site surveys.
- Identify new projects, maintenance contracts, shutdown activities, and MRO opportunities.
- Prepare quotations, tenders, and commercial proposals.
- Manage sales pipeline and provide monthly sales forecasts.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers such as PRefChem, Dialog, MMHE, Petronas contractors, EPC contractors, and local industries.
- Work closely with principals and suppliers for technical support and product positioning.
- Achieve annual sales targets assigned by management.
Project & Contract Execution
- Manage execution of the Pengerang service contract and related projects.
- Coordinate manpower allocation for site work, maintenance activities, shutdowns, FAT, installations, and commissioning.
- Monitor project schedules and ensure timely completion.
- Liaise with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Manage project documentation, reports, work permits, and site records.
- Track project progress and highlight risks, delays, or resource shortages.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, HSE requirements, and company procedures.
Technical & Application Support
- Review customer technical requirements and specifications.
- Recommend suitable products and technical solutions.
- Prepare technical proposals and documentation.
- Provide technical clarification during tender, bidding, and execution stages.
- Coordinate with principals for engineering support and product selection.
- Support FAT, demonstrations, leak testing, manifold assembly, instrumentation works, and troubleshooting activities.
Operations Coordination
- Plan manpower deployment and site schedules.
- Coordinate material procurement and logistics.
- Ensure necessary tools, equipment, and consumables are available.
- Work with warehouse and operations teams to support project delivery.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and work quality.
Reporting
- Maintain CRM and sales activity records.
- Submit weekly project updates and monthly sales reports.
- Track sales targets, project status, manpower utilisation, and customer feedback.
- Report business opportunities, project risks, and operational issues to management.
Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Or related technical discipline
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in:
