Job summary

Forbo Movement Systems in Malaysia is seeking a Sales Application Engineer to identify and develop new business opportunities through cold calls, visits, networking, and market research. You will build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and potential customers, understanding their applications and recommending suitable products or solutions.

The role requires a Diploma or Degree in Engineering, willingness to travel regularly in the territory, and driving eligible.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering or related technical field.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering is an added advantage.

• Internship exposure in industrial/manufacturing environments encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities through cold calling, customer visits, networking, referrals and market research.
• Develop new customer accounts and expand the company’s customer base within the assigned territory.
• Regularly visit existing and potential customers to understand their applications, technical requirements and future business opportunities.
• Develop a good understanding of the company’s products, services and technical capabilities.
• Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate products or solutions based on their technical and commercial requirements.
• Provide technical explanations, product presentations and application recommendations to customers.
• Coordinate with fabrication and other departments to ensure pricing, availability, production needs and delivery schedules.
• Follow up on quotations, projects and sales opportunities and actively convert them into orders.

Job description

The Sales Application Engineer role involves identifying and developing new business opportunities through cold calling, customer visits, networking, referrals, and market research. You will develop new customer accounts and expand the company's customer base within an assigned territory, while building and maintaining strong relationships with key accounts and potential customers.

Key responsibilities

Develop new customer accounts and expand the company's customer base within the assigned territory

Regularly visit existing and potential customers to understand their applications, technical requirements and future business opportunities

Develop a good understanding of the company's products, services and technical capabilities

Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate products or solutions based on their technical and commercial requirements

Provide technical explanations, product presentations and application recommendations to customers

Work closely with fabrication team to address customer technical requirements and enquiries

Prepare technical proposals and sales presentations according to customer specifications

Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure accurate pricing, product availability, production requirements and delivery schedules

Follow up on quotations, projects and sales opportunities and actively convert them into orders

About you

Minimum Diploma in Engineering or a related technical field

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field is an added advantage

Candidates with relevant internship experience or exposure to industrial, manufacturing or engineering environments encouraged to apply

Experience in technical sales, application engineering, industrial sales, engineering or manufacturing is an added advantage

Strong interest in developing a career in technical sales and application engineering

Good understanding of engineering principles and ability to learn industrial products and applications

Able to understand customer specifications, technical requirements and product applications

Willing to travel regularly within the assigned territory

Possess a valid driving license and own transportation

Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin will be an added advantage
