Dunham-Bush Industries Sdn Bhd is seeking a Safety & Health Officer to ensure compliance with OSH Act 1994 and related regulations. The role includes liaising with authorities, conducting investigations, and coordinating safety training across locations.

Candidate should have a Bachelor's in Occupational Safety & Health, Green Book certification, and at least 3 years' experience in manufacturing. Strong communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English is essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess knowledge of OSH Act 1994 (Act 514) and related regulations.
• Experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and corrective actions.
• Proven ability to investigate incidents and produce reports.
• Able to liaise with DOSH/JKKP and other authorities.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Proactive, independent, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OSH Act 1994 and related regulations.
• Monitor compliance with DOSH/JKKP, BOMBA, DOE, and safety standards.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities on inspections, audits, and submissions.
• Respond to emergencies and investigate accidents and near-misses.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate accident records and investigation reports.
• Act as Secretary of the Safety & Health Committee and coordinate meetings.
• Develop and deliver annual OSH training programmes.
• Coordinate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes.
• Monitor employee licences and certifications for high-risk activities.
• Support ISO 14001 EMS implementation and audits.
• Assist Sales with SHE tenders and questionnaires.

Job description

Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514), applicable regulations, codes of practice, guidelines, and other statutory requirements.

Monitor compliance with DOSH/JKKP, BOMBA, DOE, and other relevant occupational safety and health requirements.

Liaise with DOSH/JKKP and other relevant regulatory authorities on inspections, audits, investigations, submissions, and compliance matters.

Respond to workplace emergencies and investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational illnesses, property damage, and near-miss incidents.

Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.

Maintain accurate accident and incident records, monitor trends, and prepare investigation reports for Management.

Ensure statutory notifications and reports are submitted to DOSH/JKKP when required.

Act as Secretary of the Company's Safety and Health Committee and coordinate meetings, inspections, documentation, and follow-up actions.

Develop and implement annual Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) training programmes.

Conduct and coordinate safety induction, toolbox meetings, safety briefings, HIRARC, PPE, chemical, machinery, LOTO, forklift, working-at-height, hot-work, emergency response, fire safety, and other safety awareness programmes.

Monitor employee competency, licences, and certifications for regulated or high-risk activities.

Support the implementation, compliance, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).

Support the Sales Department in tender and questionnaire submissions related to Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) requirements.

Establish and maintain good working relationships with relevant government authorities and agencies, including DOSH/JKKP, DOE, and BOMBA.

Monitor and follow up on corrective actions and Safety & Health Committee recommendations until satisfactory closure.

Perform other functions and duties assigned by the Senior Executive – Safety & Health, Senior Manager – Administration, or Director – Manufacturing.

Knowledge, Skills & Requirements

Good knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514), FMA 1967, BOMBA requirements, and other relevant Safety & Health regulations.

Strong knowledge of workplace hazard identification, risk assessment, accident investigation, and safety compliance.

Good analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organisational skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with government authorities and employees at all levels.

Proactive, responsible, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure.

Ability to recommend improvements to maintain and enhance Workplace Safety & Health standards.

Experience in contractor management is an added advantage.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English, both written and spoken.

Valid driving licence and willingness to travel between company locations in Kajang, Selangor and Senawang/Seremban, Negeri Sembilan when required.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field, or a Professional Certificate recognized by OSHA/NIOSH.

Must be registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH/JKKP) as a Safety and Health Officer (Green Book Certification).

Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Safety & Health Officer, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
