JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead HIRARC Risk Assessment Activities
- Conduct HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control) activities to identify workplace hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Review and update risk assessments regularly or whenever changes occur in processes, equipment, or work activities.
2. Monitor Safety Performance and Risk Controls
- Monitor the effectiveness of risk control measures through routine workplace inspections, safety audits, and incident trend analysis.
- Ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions arising from audits, inspections, incidents, and observations.
3. Implement Corporate EHS Programs
- Coordinate and implement EHS campaigns, corporate safety initiatives, and compliance programs within the manufacturing site.
- Support the deployment of global and regional EHS standards, policies, and best practices.
4. Promote Safety Awareness
- Conduct safety induction, toolbox talks, and risk awareness training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote a positive safety culture through continuous communication, engagement activities, and employee participation.
5. Lead Special EHS Projects
- Lead and coordinate EHS improvement projects such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Fire Prevention, Ergonomics, Machine Safety, Chemical Safety, and other risk reduction initiatives.
- Monitor project progress and ensure successful implementation of improvement actions.
6. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Environmental Quality Act (EQA), Fire Services Act, and other applicable Malaysian regulations.
- Liaise with relevant government authorities during inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
7. Incident Management
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to determine root causes.
- Recommend and follow up on corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
8. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, risk assessments, permits, and other EHS documentation.
- Prepare monthly safety reports, KPI updates, and management presentations as required.
9. Others
- Assist/participate in other Company events & activities as and when required.
- To participate/support other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned by the company from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Green Book (Registered Safety & Health Officer - SHO) under DOSH is preferred (or working towards certification, depending on company requirements).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Occupational Safety & Health within a manufacturing environment.
- Good knowledge of Malaysian Occupational Safety & Health legislation and relevant statutory requirements.
- Experience in conducting HIRARC, incident investigations, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System is an advantage.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
