Qualifications

The Retail Merchandising Manager (Malaysia & Singapore) is responsible for developing and executing merchandising strategies that maximize sales, profitability, and pet owners experience across retail channels. This role ensures optimal product assortment, shelf visibility, in-store execution, promotional effectiveness, and merchandising standards while collaborating closely with Brand, Sales & Marketing and Retail Partners.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement merchandising strategies aligned with company sales and growth objectives.
• Define assortment, product placement, and display standards across retail channels.
• Drive execution of category and merchandising initiatives to improve pet owner engagement and sales conversion, including Perfect Store and Merchandising criteria in trade terms
• Evaluate market trends, pet owner preferences, and competitor activities in-store to identify growth opportunities.

2. Retail Execution & In-Store Excellence

• Ensure consistent execution of merchandising standards across all retail outlets.
• Monitor compliance with planograms, shelf layouts, and promotional displays.
• Conduct regular store visits and audits to assess merchandising effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with field sales teams to drive superior in-store visibility and availability.

3. Category Management

• Analyze category performance and recommend assortment optimization opportunities.
• Work with retailers to develop category growth strategies and enhance pet owner experience.
• Implement category reviews and leverage pet owner insights to improve performance.
• Support new product launches and range reviews.
• Plan and execute seasonal promotions, product displays, and marketing campaigns.
• Monitor promotional performance and return on investment (ROI).
• Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to ensure alignment between merchandising and commercial objectives.

5. Data Analysis & Performance Tracking

• Develop reports and dashboards to track merchandising KPIs.
• Monitor product sell-through rates, stock availability, and inventory health.
• Provide recommendations to improve productivity and profitability.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Brand, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer Service teams to ensure seamless execution.
• Support demand planning through sales and market insights.
• Coordinate with suppliers and retail partners to optimize merchandising outcomes.
• Lead merchandising projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

7. Team Leadership & Capability Development

• Lead and coach merchandising teams and field execution personnel.
• Establish clear objectives, performance expectations, and development plans.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and customer focus.
• Drive best-practice sharing and merchandising capability development.

Job Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Marketing or equivalent and/or relevant job experience
• Experience working within Fast Moving Consumer Good Industries or retail merchandising/ marketing
• At least 3 years experiences in retail merchandising and/or sales environment
• Thorough understanding of marketing principles and retail merchandising fundamentals
• Fluent in both English & Bahasa Melayu (Knowledge of local dialects would be added advantage)
• Excellent planning skills
• Creative thinker and ability to apply according to brand charter.
• Strong ability to execute projects on time to meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication and presentation skills with good negotiation skills
• Self-motivated, detailed oriented & ability to multi-task
• Interest for nutrition and Passion for dogs and cats would be a plus
• Possess valid driver’s license. Willing to travel
