Job summary

Belum Rainforest Resort in Malaysia’s Perak region invites energetic individuals to join its recreation team. You will guide guests on nature-focused activities, assist with watercraft and gear, and uphold safety standards across expeditions.

As a member of EMKAY Group, you’ll engage visitors, manage equipment, and contribute to a memorable eco-tourism experience at Belum Rainforest Resort on Pulau Banding.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in daily guest tours, including nature walks, bamboo rafting, kayaking, fishing excursions, and visits to nearby waterfalls or Orang Asli villages.
• Provide informative, engaging commentary regarding the flora, fauna, and conservation efforts within the Belum-Temengor Rainforest.
• Brief guests on trip itineraries, proper outdoor attire, safety rules, and environmental ethics Leave No Trace before departing on activities.
• Assist with boat loading/unloading, docking, and passenger manifests at the resort jetty.
• Clean, inspect, and issue recreational equipment—such as life jackets, paddles, kayaks, fishing rods, and trekking gear—reporting any damage or wear immediately.
• Ensure all gear is properly sanitized, dried, and stored securely at the end of each shift to prevent rainforest climate damage.
• Ensure all guests strictly adhere to safety protocols, including mandatory life jacket usage on watercraft and proper footgear on forest trails.
• Carry fully stocked first-aid kits on all guided excursions and administer basic first aid for minor cuts, insect bites, or scrapes when necessary.
• Observe changing weather conditions on the lake or trail hazards and communicate potential risks to the Recreation Manager.
• Welcoming guests warmly at the recreation desk, answering inquiries about available activities, and handling bookings/waivers.

Job description

1. Activity Guiding & Eco-Tour Execution

• Guided Excursions: Lead or assist in daily guest tours, including nature walks, bamboo rafting, kayaking, fishing excursions, and visits to nearby waterfalls or Orang Asli villages.

• Nature Interpretation: Provide informative, engaging commentary regarding the flora, fauna, and conservation efforts within the Belum-Temengor Rainforest.

• Guest Assistance: Brief guests on trip itineraries, proper outdoor attire, safety rules, and environmental ethics Leave No Trace before departing on activities.

2. Waterfront & Equipment Maintenance

• Jetty Operations: Assist with boat loading/unloading, docking, and passenger passenger manifests at the resort jetty.

• Gear Upkeep: Clean, inspect, and issue recreational equipment—such as life jackets, paddles, kayaks, fishing rods, and trekking gear—reporting any damage or wear immediately.

• Inventory & Storage: Ensure all gear is properly sanitized, dried, and stored securely at the end of each shift to prevent rainforest climate damage.

3. Safety, First Aid & Risk Prevention

• Safety Enforcement: Ensure all guests strictly adhere to safety protocols, including mandatory life jacket usage on watercraft and proper footgear on forest trails.

• First Aid Readiness: Carry fully stocked first-aid kits on all guided excursions and administer basic first aid for minor cuts, insect bites, or scrapes when necessary.

• Weather & Hazard Monitoring: Observe changing weather conditions on the lake or trail hazards (e.g., fallen trees, slippery terrain) and communicate potential risks to the Recreation Manager.

4. Team Support & Guest Relations

• Guest Service: Welcoming guests warmly at the recreation desk, answering inquiries about available activities, and handling bookings/waivers.
