Job summary

EAR ENGINEERING SDN BHD is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects. You will prepare pre/post-contract QS works, review tender documents, perform take-offs, and monitor costs against budgets in a dynamic project environment.

The role requires 2–5 years of QS experience, proficiency in Excel, familiarity with BOQ and contract documents, and willingness to travel to project sites as needed. CAD knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or construction industry is preferred.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered for Junior Quantity Surveyor positions.
  • Experience in building, civil, infrastructure, renovation, or related construction projects will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of quantity take-off, measurement, costing, tendering, valuation, variation, and contract administration.
  • Familiar with Bills of Quantities (BQ), tender documents, contract documents, and construction drawings.
  • Good understanding of construction methods, materials, specifications, and project costs.
  • Experience in preparing and evaluating progress claims, VO, EOT, final accounts, and subcontractor claims.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor all commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects.

  • Review and evaluate tender documents, drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities (BQ), and contract documents.
  • Prepare quantity take-off, cost estimates, pricing, and tender documentation.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender comparisons and assist in contractor/subcontractor selection.
  • Manage and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Prepare and monitor progress claims, payment certificates, variation orders, and final accounts.
  • Measure and verify quantities of completed works on site.
  • Monitor project costs against the approved budget and identify potential cost overruns.
  • Evaluate Variation Orders (VO), including measurement, costing, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare Extension of Time (EOT) and other contractual/commercial submissions where required.
  • Review and assess subcontractor claims and supporting documents.
  • Maintain proper records of contracts, claims, variations, payments, and other commercial documentation.
  • Liaise with Project Manager, Project Engineer, consultants, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on commercial and contractual matters.
  • Attend site meetings, tender meetings, progress meetings, and commercial meetings.
  • Assist in contract administration and ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Monitor project expenditure, cash flow, and financial commitments.
  • Prepare regular cost reports, commercial reports, and project financial updates for management.
  • Assist in the preparation of final accounts and project close-out documentation.
  • Ensure all quantity surveying and commercial activities are carried out accurately and within the required timeframe.
