Job summary

KCJ Engineering in Selangor, Malaysia seeks a Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs and contractual matters. You will prepare Bills of Quantities, perform quantity take-offs, cost estimates and tender documents, and review quotations and subcontracts.

The role covers progress claims, variations, final accounts and contract administration with site involvement as needed. You should have a Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field and 2–4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
  • 2–4 years of Quantity Surveying experience in construction, engineering or building projects.
  • Proficient in quantity take-off, BQ preparation, tendering, cost estimation and progress claims.
  • Experience with Variation Orders and Final Accounts; contract administration knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and contract documents.
  • Proficient in MS Excel; CostX or AutoCAD experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, evaluate and negotiate quotations, tenders and subcontractor proposals.
  • Review and certify progress claims from contractors and subcontractors.
  • Prepare, evaluate and monitor Variation Orders and changes to scope.
  • Conduct site measurements and verify quantities, progress and materials used.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure costs stay within the approved budget.
  • Prepare cost reports, cash flow projections and payment schedules.
  • Assist in contract administration, including reviewing contract documents and terms.
  • Prepare and manage Final Accounts, reconciling costs and variations.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, site teams, contractors and suppliers on commercial matters.
  • Identify cost risks and opportunities for cost savings; maintain accurate records.

Manage and monitor project cost, quantity measurement and contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle.

Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BQ), quantity take-offs, cost estimates and tender documents.

Diploma / Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.

Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably in construction, engineering, building or maintenance projects.

Good knowledge of quantity take-off, BQ preparation, tendering, cost estimation, progress claims, Variation Orders and Final Accounts.

Good understanding of contract administration and commercial management.

Able to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities and contract documents.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge of Quantity Surveying software such as AutoCAD, CostX or other relevant software is an advantage.

Good negotiation, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail with good numerical and analytical abilities.

Able to work independently and effectively with project teams and external parties.

Good time management and able to manage multiple projects or tasks within deadlines.

Willing to work at project sites and travel when required.
