Job summary

Mugo Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia seeks a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to manage master price lists, take-offs from drawings, and client quotations for renovation projects.

The role covers subcontractor tendering, cost control, budgeting, billing, and final margin reporting, with emphasis on accuracy and on-site costing. English and Bahasa Malaysia fluency required; Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Building/Construction Management or related field.
• 1 year and above QS experience in residential renovation, interior fit-out or design & build.
• Hands-on knowledge of renovation trades, materials and current Klang Valley market rates.
• Strong measurement and take-off skills from drawings.
• Advanced Excel; comfortable with digital tools and willing to use our AI/automation systems.
• Good English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is a strong plus (most of our clients are Chinese).
• Own transport; willing to visit sites.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain master price list / schedule of rates for renovation works (civil, wet works, M&E, ceiling, flooring, painting).
• Take-off quantities from designers' drawings and site measurements; check quotations for margin and missing items.
• Prepare client quotations from drawings, design brief and site measurements.
• Build a panel of reliable subcontractors for renovation work.
• Prepare subcon scopes of work and agreements with clear specs, payment terms and retention.
• Coordinate with carpentry production team on costing and schedule.
• Set a cost budget for every project at contract signing.
• Track actual cost vs budget and flag overruns early.
• Verify and certify subcontract progress claims against work on site.
• Prepare client progress billing in line with contract milestones.
• Close out each project with a final account and margin report.

Job description

Take off quantities from designers' drawings and site measurements, and check every quotation for margin and missing items before it goes to the client, issue VO when it is necessary

Prepare client quotations for sales designers from their drawings, design brief and site measurements

Subcontractor tendering & procurement

Build a panel of reliable subcontractors for our renovation work

Prepare subcon scopes of work and agreements, with clear specs, payment terms and retention

Coordinate with the carpentry production team on costing and schedule

Cost control & project finance

Set a cost budget for every project at contract signing

Track actual cost vs budget and flag overruns early

Verify and certify subcon progress claims against work actually done on site

Prepare client progress billing in line with contract milestones
