Job summary

TTY ID & Construction Sdn Bhd, Penang, seeks a proactive Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs from tender to completion, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining quality and contractual compliance.

You will prepare cost estimates, BQ, budgets, progress claims, and payment certificates; source quotations; evaluate and negotiate quotations; liaise with clients and suppliers; and maintain full cost records on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or professional degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying.
• Proficient in English and Mandarin for client communication.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for drawing review and take-offs.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs from tender stage through project completion, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining quality and contractual compliance.

Key responsibilities

Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BQ), and tender documents.

Source quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and carry out cost comparisons.

Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Prepare project budgets, cost plans, and monitor project costs.

Prepare progress claims, variation orders (VO), final accounts, and payment certificates.

Verify subcontractor claims and prepare payment recommendations.

Monitor project cost performance and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.

Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams on contractual and commercial matters.

Attend site meetings and conduct site measurements when required.

Maintain proper project documentation and cost records.

About you

Bachelor's Degree or Professional Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in quantity surveying, preferably in commercial, civil, or construction projects.

Proficient in Chinese and English (spoken and written) to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients, consultants, and suppliers.

Proficiency in AutoCAD for reviewing drawings and taking off quantities.

Strong competency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and MS Project for cost estimation, scheduling, and documentation.

Computer literate with ability to learn quantity surveying software and tools.

Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate quantity take-offs and cost calculations.

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.

Possess own transport for site visits, supplier meetings, and project coordination.

Good negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
