Chery Technology Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality function for its automotive manufacturing operations in Shah Alam. You will own the QMS, drive IATF 16949/ISO 9001 compliance and coordinate internal and external audits.
You will collaborate with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure products meet customer, regulatory and company requirements, while developing a strong quality culture on the shop floor.
We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Quality Manager to lead the overall quality function for CTM Technology Malaysia’s automotive manufacturing operations.
The Quality Manager will be responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and applicable automotive customer requirements. The role will oversee Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Process Quality/Process Engineering, while acting as the key coordinator for all internal and external quality matters.
The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, Warehouse, Logistics, Purchasing and other functional teams to ensure that products and processes consistently meet customer, regulatory and company requirements.
Lead the overall implementation, development and continuous improvement of the company's IATF 16949 Quality Management System.
Develop and maintain the IATF 16949 implementation roadmap, ensuring all required activities are properly planned, tracked and completed.
Coordinate all activities related to IATF 16949 certification, including gap assessment, documentation, implementation, internal audit, management review and external certification audit.
Establish, review and maintain quality policies, procedures, work instructions, formats and quality records.
Ensure effective implementation of QMS requirements across all departments.
Conduct regular follow-up with process owners to ensure QMS actions and improvement plans are completed on time.
Lead Internal Audit, Process Audit and Product Audit activities and ensure findings are properly closed.
Coordinate Management Review and monitor the effectiveness of the QMS.
Ensure proper control of quality-related documents, records and changes.
Act as the key person responsible for coordinating and managing all customer quality issues and complaints.
Liaise with customers on quality requirements, complaints, corrective actions, quality performance and improvement activities.
Lead the investigation and closure of customer complaints using appropriate problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, CAPA and other root-cause analysis tools.
Ensure timely containment, root-cause analysis, corrective action and preventive action for quality issues.
Monitor customer quality performance and identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
Coordinate customer audits, assessments and quality-related meetings.
Ensure customer-specific requirements are communicated and effectively implemented internally.
Lead the Quality function in new product introduction (NPI) and product launch activities.
Coordinate quality deliverables throughout the product development and launch process.
Lead or support APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, MSA and SPC activities.
Review and ensure PPAP documentation meets customer and IATF 16949 requirements before submission.
Follow up closely with Engineering and Production teams on product and process readiness before mass production.
Establish appropriate inspection and quality control standards for new products and processes.
Participate in trial production, pilot runs and launch readiness reviews.
Ensure lessons learned from new product launches are captured and incorporated into future projects.
Develop and implement effective Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems throughout the manufacturing process.
Establish incoming, in-process and outgoing quality control standards and inspection requirements.
Work closely with Process Engineering and Production to identify and eliminate process-related quality risks.
Ensure process parameters, control plans and inspection standards are properly established and maintained.
Monitor process capability, defect trends, first-pass yield, rework, scrap and other relevant quality indicators.
Lead continuous improvement activities to reduce defects, customer complaints, rework and production losses.
Ensure proper handling and disposition of non-conforming products and materials.
Establish effective traceability and quality control requirements for automotive production.
Lead, manage and develop the Quality team, including QA, QC and Process Quality/Engineering personnel.
Establish departmental objectives, KPIs and performance targets.
Ensure sufficient manpower, competency, equipment and resources are available to support production and customer requirements.
Develop training plans and ensure employees are properly trained in quality standards, procedures and automotive core tools.
Provide coaching and guidance to Quality Engineers, QC personnel and other quality team members.
Build a strong quality culture across the organization.
Work closely with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality requirements.
Support supplier qualification, evaluation and performance monitoring.
Manage supplier-related quality issues and corrective actions.
Coordinate supplier quality improvement activities where required.
Ensure supplier quality requirements are aligned with customer and IATF 16949 requirements.
Establish and monitor Quality KPIs and prepare regular quality performance reports for management.
Monitor key indicators such as:
Customer complaints
Customer PPM
Internal PPM / defect rate
First Pass Yield (FPY)
Scrap and rework
Incoming quality performance
Process audit findings
Corrective action closure
Supplier quality performance
Provide regular updates to management on major quality risks, issues and improvement activities.
Escalate critical quality issues promptly and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Bachelor's Degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in Quality, QA/QC or Quality Engineering, preferably within the automotive manufacturing industry.
Experience in establishing or implementing IATF 16949 is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and automotive quality requirements.
Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA and 8D.
Experience in customer quality management and handling customer complaints.
Experience in automotive manufacturing, assembly or automotive components will be an advantage.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and process quality control.
Good analytical, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
Strong leadership, communication and coordination skills.
Able to work independently and effectively coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Good command of Mandarin/Chinese is required to liaise with top management from China and good command in English is preferred due to communication with customers, and overseas technical teams.
Willing to be hands‑on and work closely with the production floor in a fast‑growing manufacturing environment.
