Job summary

CHERY CORPORATE MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. is seeking an experienced procurement leader to develop and implement purchasing strategies that support manufacturing operations and business objectives.

The role focuses on supplier selection, contract negotiation, and cost optimization while maintaining quality. You will collaborate with production, operations, and finance to forecast material needs and manage inventory, ensuring timely deliveries and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in purchasing/procurement or supply chain management, preferably within manufacturing or automotive.
• Proven expertise in vendor management, contract negotiation, and procurement process optimization.
• Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain principles, and inventory management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with data interpretation for strategic purchasing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple suppliers and achieve commercial objectives.
• Experience with procurement systems and software.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management across departments.
• Knowledge of automotive or manufacturing industry standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive purchasing strategies and policies to support manufacturing operations and business objectives
• Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers whilst maintaining strong supplier relationships and performance standards
• Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with suppliers to achieve optimal cost savings without compromising quality
• Manage purchase orders, monitor delivery schedules, and ensure timely receipt of materials and services
• Analyze spending patterns and market trends to identify cost reduction opportunities and improve procurement efficiency
• Collaborate with production, operations, and finance teams to forecast material requirements and plan inventory levels
• Monitor supplier performance, conduct audits, and implement corrective actions when necessary
• Manage procurement budgets and prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, spending and performance metrics
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards in all procurement activities
• Oversee inventory management and work to optimize stock levels whilst minimizing carrying costs

What we're looking for

Experience with procurement systems and software

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments

Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field

Knowledge of automotive or manufacturing industry standards and requirements is preferred
