Job summary

LOCAL ASSEMBLY SDN. BHD. (LA) based in Gelang Patah, Johor, seeks a Quality Inspector to conduct in-process and final inspections, verify product dimensions and appearance, and report defects to the QA team.

The role emphasizes precise measurement, adherence to QMS, and collaboration with Production and Engineering to prevent defects. The candidate should have at least a diploma or certificate in quality control and 1 year of relevant experience; familiarity with IPQC and OQC is a plus, and 5S

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM/STPM, Certificate, or Diploma in Quality Control, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of working experience in quality inspection.
• Experience in IPQC and OQC is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final inspections according to quality standards and customer specs.
• Verify dimensions, appearance and functionality with appropriate inspection methods.
• Record, report, and label defective or non-conforming products to QA team.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and quality reports; document results per procedures.
• Operate measuring instruments and ensure calibration validity of tools.
• Support 5S and housekeeping in the inspection area; assist continuous improvement.

Job description

Responsible for performing quality inspections and ensuring that products meet company quality standards, customer requirements, and specifications throughout the production process. The role aims to identify and prevent defects, minimise product rejection, and support smooth production operations.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection & Control

Conduct in-process and final product inspections according to established quality standards, procedures, and customer specifications.

Verify product dimensions, appearance, and functionality using appropriate inspection methods and measuring equipment.

Ensure products meet quality requirements before proceeding to the next production stage or shipment.

Identify, record, and report defective or non-conforming products to the QC Supervisor or QA Engineer.

Ensure rejected products are properly identified, labelled, and segregated to prevent unintended use.

Assist in investigating quality issues and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurring defects.

Inspection Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate inspection records, checklists, and quality reports.

Ensure inspection results are properly documented in accordance with company procedures.

Report quality abnormalities or inspection findings promptly to the relevant personnel.

Measuring Equipment & Quality Compliance

Operate measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.

Ensure measuring equipment is properly maintained and within its calibration validity.

Follow established Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, work instructions, and inspection standards.

Work closely with Production, Engineering, and QA teams to resolve product quality issues.

Support continuous improvement activities to reduce defects, improve product quality, and minimise rejection rates.

Maintain good housekeeping and practise 5S in the inspection area.

Perform any other duties assigned by the superior from time to time.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

Minimum SPM/STPM, Certificate, or Diploma in Quality Control, Manufacturing, or a related field.

At least 1 year of working experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Experience in in-process quality control (IPQC) and outgoing quality control (OQC) will be an added advantage.
