Job summary

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer for our Bukit Minyak facility in Penang.

You will manage procurement activities to support manufacturing operations, maintain optimal inventory levels, and build strong supplier relationships. The role requires 2–4 years in purchasing within manufacturing, Diploma or Bachelor's in SCM/Business Admin, and strong negotiation and ERP skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in SCM, Business Admin, or related field.
• 2–4 years of purchasing/procurement experience in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supplier management.
• Excellent negotiation skills and supplier relationship management.
• Experience with ERP and procurement software; proficient in MS Office.
• Familiarity with ISO quality standards is a plus.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to join IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in our Bukit Minyak facility in Penang. As a Purchasing Officer, you will play a crucial role in our supply chain operations, managing procurement activities that directly support our manufacturing operations. This position is integral to ensuring we maintain efficient inventory levels, secure quality materials at competitive prices, and build strong supplier relationships that contribute to the overall success of our organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors to ensure quality, reliability and competitive pricing
• Preparing, issuing and managing purchase orders and contracts in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Negotiating pricing, terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve optimal value for the organisation
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with production and warehouse teams to maintain appropriate stock
• Receiving and processing purchase requisitions from various departments and prioritising orders accordingly
• Liaising with suppliers regarding delivery schedules, quality concerns and any issues related to orders
• Maintaining accurate purchasing records, documentation and databases for audit and tracking purposes
• Analysing purchase data and supplier performance metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities and improvements
• Ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, quality standards and company procedures
• Supporting the development and implementation of procurement strategies and policies

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• Proven experience of 2-4 years working in a purchasing or procurement role within a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively
• Proficiency in using procurement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Knowledge of quality standards (ISO certifications) and supply chain best practices is preferred
• Familiarity with electronics or manufacturing industry procurement is a plus
