Job summary

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Equipment Technician to join our Bukit Minyak facility in Penang. This full-time role focuses on maintaining and optimising our advanced manufacturing equipment and systems, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting production to meet high standards of efficiency and quality.

You will diagnose and repair electrical/electronic equipment, interpret schematics, and assist with installation of new equipment for High Volume

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 3–5 years hands-on experience as Equipment Technician or similar.
• Experience in manufacturing or electronics environment.
• Proficient with diagnostic and testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and perform repairs or replacements to maintain equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure operational continuity.
• Monitor performance and report daily on improvements.
• Read and interpret manuals for equipment operation and maintenance.
• Assist engineers with installation of new electrical or mechanical equipment for HVM lines.
• Perform comprehensive testing of installations.

About the role

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Equipment Technician to join our team at our Bukit Minyak facility in Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimising our advanced manufacturing equipment and systems. As an Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of electrical and electronic equipment, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting our production operations to meet the highest standards of efficiency and quality.

Key responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

Conduct routine inspections to proactively identify and rectify equipment malfunctions, performing necessary repairs and replacements.

Troubleshoot issues with existing equipment to ensure operational continuity.

Monitor equipment performance following improvements, reporting daily as required.

Read and interpret technical manuals for equipment operation and maintenance.

Assist engineers with the installation of new electrical or mechanical equipment for High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) lines.

Perform comprehensive testing of both new and existing installations.

Operational Support & Compliance

Adhere strictly to company policies and safety regulations.

Execute daily 5S activities to maintain a safe and organized workspace.

What we’re looking for

Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or equivalent technical qualification

Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an Equipment Technician or similar role in a manufacturing or electronics environment

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuit design, and electronic equipment operation and maintenance

Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and PLC programming tools

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and equipment manuals

Experience with preventative maintenance programmes and predictive maintenance techniques

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with production teams and management

Commitment to safety and adherence to workplace safety regulations and procedures

Experience with industrial automation or control systems is highly desirable
