Job summary

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team on a full-time basis at our Bukit Minyak facility. You will ensure optimal performance of manufacturing equipment, minimise downtime, and support continuous improvement across processes.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree and 3–5 years hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting, with strong diagnostics and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in manufacturing/industrial settings.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and maintenance manuals.
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical issues.
• Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance principles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work in a team.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high workmanship standards.
• Physical ability to perform hands-on maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of electronics and PLC systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on mechanical equipment and production systems.
• Conduct regular inspections, diagnostics, and performance testing to pre-empt issues.
• Maintain maintenance records, work orders, service schedules, and spare parts inventory.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical faults and restore equipment to operation.
• Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruptions and coordinate maintenance.
• Plan and schedule routine maintenance to optimise uptime.
• Support continuous improvement by analysing equipment data and recommending enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards during maintenance.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance technicians.

About the role

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team on a full-time basis in Bukit Minyak, Penang. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our manufacturing equipment and facilities. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a vital part in maximising operational efficiency, minimising downtime, and supporting the overall productivity of our production operations. This position is essential to maintaining our commitment to quality and continuous improvement across all manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and emergency repairs on mechanical equipment and production systems

Conduct regular equipment inspections, diagnostics, and performance testing to identify potential issues before they become critical

Maintain comprehensive maintenance records and documentation, including work orders, service schedules, and spare parts inventory

Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical faults and implement effective solutions to restore equipment to operational status

Collaborate with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise production disruptions

Plan and schedule routine maintenance tasks to optimise equipment uptime and operational efficiency

Support continuous improvement initiatives by analysing equipment performance data and recommending enhancements

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards during all maintenance activities

Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance technicians where applicable

What we're looking for

Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or a related discipline

Minimum 3-5 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment

Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electromechanical equipment

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals

Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex mechanical issues

Sound understanding of preventive maintenance principles and predictive maintenance techniques

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship

Physical capability to perform hands‑on maintenance tasks and work in a manufacturing facility environment

Knowledge of electronics and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems would be advantageous
