Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a diligent Purchaser to manage sourcing of construction materials, equipment, and services. You will handle RFQs, negotiations, purchase orders, and delivery coordination to ensure on-site availability and cost control.

The role requires a diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2–5 years of purchasing experience within construction or hardware trading. Strong negotiation and deadline-driven focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in purchasing or material sourcing, preferably in construction/engineering/hardware trading.
• Sharp negotiation skills, strong attention to detail, high integrity, and ability to work under tight project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Source reliable suppliers, issue RFQs, and prepare price comparison sheets for management review.
• Negotiate prices, credit terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
• Generate and issue Purchase Orders (POs) accurately using internal systems with clear terms and conditions.
• Coordinate delivery timelines with site supervisors and project managers to ensure materials arrive on schedule.
• Verify DOs and invoices against POs to resolve discrepancies before forwarding to accounts.
• Maintain and evaluate updated database of approved suppliers and subcontractors based on performance, reliability, and price.

About the Job

• Sourcing & RFQs: Source reliable suppliers, issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and compile price comparison sheets for management review.
• Negotiation & Cost Control: Negotiate competitive prices, credit terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve maximum cost savings without compromising quality.
• PO Administration: Generate and issue Purchase Orders (POs) accurately using internal systems, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly stated.
• Delivery & Logistics Coordination: Coordinate closely with site supervisors and project managers to track delivery timelines and ensure materials arrive on site exactly when needed.
• Invoice Verification: Match delivery orders (DOs) and invoices against POs to resolve any discrepancies in quantity or pricing before passing to the accounts team.
• Vendor Relationship Management: Maintain and evaluate an updated database of approved suppliers and subcontractors based on performance, reliability, and price.

About the Manager / Team

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

Skills and Experience Required

• Qualifications: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in purchasing or material sourcing, preferably within the construction, engineering, or hardware trading sector.
