Job summary

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Executive (Construction) in Penang Island to support procurement for construction projects. This full-time role involves sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials and services, ensuring compliance with project requirements and company policies.

Ideal candidates will have 2-3 years of purchasing experience in construction, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency in procurement software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement or inventory management, preferably within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment and industry practices.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities to handle multiple purchasing requirements simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Malay.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and cross-functional departments.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for construction materials, equipment and services.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company policies and project requirements.
• Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal pricing and delivery schedules.
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain relationships to ensure consistent quality and on-time delivery.
• Conduct market research to stay informed of pricing trends, availability and industry developments.
• Process purchase requisitions from project managers and construction teams.
• Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities, invoices and payments.
• Coordinate with inventory management to ensure adequate stock levels of critical materials.
• Resolve supply chain issues and expedite deliveries when necessary.
• Prepare purchasing reports and analysis for management review.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
