MGB Berhad is seeking a Head of Purchasing / Senior Purchasing Manager in Malaysia to lead the purchasing function across construction projects, optimise sourcing, and build strong supplier partnerships.

You will drive cost efficiency, implement digital purchasing initiatives, and collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Contracts to align strategies with project needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant working experience in purchasing, sourcing, or commercial functions within the construction and/or property development industry.
• Proven experience leading purchasing teams and managing supplier relationships.
• Experience in construction material sourcing, contract negotiations, and purchasing planning.
• Experience in leading process improvement or digital purchasing initiatives will be an advantage.
• Strong commercial negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Good understanding of purchasing processes, supply chain management, and construction materials.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to evaluate costs, market trends, and purchasing risks.
• Good leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsabilités

• Lead purchasing activities across construction projects, including bulk materials, architectural materials, preliminaries, consumables, and other project requirements.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimise cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.
• Lead commercial negotiations with key suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favourable commercial terms, and long-term strategic partnerships.
• Oversee supplier evaluation, tender assessments, purchasing planning, and contract award recommendations to support project delivery.
• Develop and implement purchasing processes and operational procedures to ensure efficient, compliant, and timely material purchasing.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and business partners to ensure reliable supply and long-term collaboration.
• Monitor supplier performance and contract compliance to ensure reliable material supply and operational continuity.
• Identify and mitigate purchasing and supply chain risks to minimise business disruptions and safeguard commercial interests.
• Monitor purchasing performance, market trends, and commercial outcomes, providing regular reports and recommendations to management.
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency, operational processes, and cost effectiveness.
• Drive digital purchasing initiatives to improve purchasing efficiency, reporting, data visibility, and process standardisation.
• Develop and monitor purchasing performance indicators to support business objectives and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with Operations, Finance, Contracts, and other departments to align purchasing strategies with project and business requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team to strengthen technical capabilities, promote collaboration, and support continuous improvement.

The Head of Purchasing / Senior Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the company's purchasing function, overseeing sourcing, supplier management, and material purchasing strategies to support project delivery and business operations. This role is responsible for driving purchasing performance, strengthening supplier partnerships, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the company's business objectives through effective purchasing and supply chain management.

Job Requirement
