Job summary

Eastern & Oriental Berhad in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Project Manager (Property & Construction Development) to monitor progress, supervise workmanship, and ensure safety and environmental compliance across sites. You will collaborate with the Project Director, contractors, and consultants to deliver projects on schedule and to specification.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 10 years of experience in property development or general project management,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of working experience in property development, especially in general project management.
• Well versed in understanding Structural and Architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of M&E works will be an advantage.
• Familiar with AutoCAD or BIM software.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the progress of construction, quality of workmanship, and compliance with safety, health, and environmental requirements at project sites.
• Assist the Project Director in monitoring daily construction progress and coordination with contractors on site activities.
• Coordinate with project consultants on drawings, design changes, and project-related issues to facilitate timely resolution.
• Lead and manage project teams in all aspects of construction activities including drawing control, material inspection, quality control, and site monitoring.
• Lead the handover process, including inspection, documentation, defect rectification, and timely completion.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve construction and project-related issues to ensure smooth execution and delivery.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to departmental teams, coordinating with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

Job Overview

To monitor the progress of construction, quality control of workmanship and supervise implementation of construction works adherence to the project requirements.

Key responsibilities

Assist the Project Director in monitoring daily construction progress, workmanship quality, and compliance with safety, health, and environmental requirements at project sites.

Liaise and work closely with contractors on day-to-day site management to ensure effective coordination and implementation in accordance with approved specifications, drawings, quality standards, and project schedules.

Coordinate with project consultants on construction drawings, technical matters, design changes, and other project-related issues to facilitate timely resolution.

Lead and manage project teams in all aspects of construction activities, including drawing control, material inspection, quality control, construction monitoring, and post-construction activities.

Lead the project handover process, including inspection, documentation, defect identification, and rectification to ensure timely and satisfactory completion.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve construction and project-related issues to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery.

Lead and monitor multiple development projects to ensure timely completion, quality standards, cost effectiveness, and compliance with approved project objectives and requirements.

Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to departmental team members, fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and accountable working environment.

Manage and coordinate internal teams, consultants, contractors, relevant authorities, business partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project planning and execution.

Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with consultants, contractors, authorities, business partners, and other key stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

Provide technical and project-related support to the Property Management Department and other departments, as required.

Ensure proper project documentation, reporting, coordination, and follow-up are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Undertake other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural, Building Technology, Construction Management or a related field.

A minimum of 10 years of working experience in property development industry especially in general project management.

Well versed in understanding Structural and Architectural drawings.

Knowledge of M&E works will be an advantage.

Familiar with AutoCAD or BIM software.
