Job summary

GEO STRATEGIC (M) SDN BHD is seeking an experienced Project Manager for a contract position in Kerteh, Terengganu. You will lead planning, execution, and completion of construction projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and high quality.

Responsibilities include scheduling, budgeting, vendor management, site inspections, and risk mitigation. Strong leadership, English and Malay communications, and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of proven Project Manager experience in construction.
• Proficiency with project management software (MS Project or Primavera P6).
• Excellent English and Malay communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
• Oversee day-to-day project operations and coordinate activities across teams and stakeholders.
• Monitor progress against timelines and budgets; implement corrective actions.
• Manage contractual obligations, procurement processes, and vendor relations.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports and risk assessments.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure alignment.
• Identify and mitigate project risks with contingency plans.
• Lead team meetings and mentor junior staff on site.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join GEO STRATEGIC (M) SDN BHD on a contract basis. This is a pivotal leadership position based in Kerteh, Terengganu, where you will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects. As Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is central to our operations, directly impacting our reputation, profitability, and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and develop comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies
• Oversee day-to-day project operations and coordinate activities across multiple teams and stakeholders
• Monitor project progress against established timelines and budgets, implementing corrective actions as necessary
• Manage contractual obligations, procurement processes, and vendor relationships
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality specifications, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, risk assessments, and change orders
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure alignment and address concerns promptly
• Identify and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans where required
• Lead team meetings and provide mentorship to junior staff and on-site personnel
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project management principles, and industry best practices
• Proficiency in project management software and tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar)
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple concurrent projects
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs, and maximise resource efficiency
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams and stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Malay
• Sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make decisions under pressure
• Relevant professional certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) are preferred
• Experience with projects in the petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing sectors is advantageous
